Duelling Lingos: The Non English Music Thunderdome

El Pescador, Chellakutty, and, well, frankly I don't like either of the ones in the third matchup so I'll abstain.

I'll note that for me it has nothing to do with the music, I don't want the people who nominated things to feel bad.

It's that I am newly potentially dealingwith (trigger warning)a friend being sexually harassed so I had zero interest in watching music videos that focused on tits and asses. It's raw and I'm in a mood and later in the contest will be more willing to watch that.

Extremely valid.

Also I feel like these contests are really about the music, so it's no problem to play in the background and ignore the videos, honestly.

Indeed. @Violentvixen you may want to do this for another of my picks, Bubble Pop by HYUNNA. It's not as egregious as Hurricane (80's OVAs amirite?) but fair warning.

Thanks all, feeling less stressed about it today and appreciate the heads up. For a lot of these I'm watching the videos to see if the captions have translations since I'm curious what's being said, but yeah, I'll be more willing to just look up lyrics separately or something if I'm really curious.

El Pescador, pass and Konya Wa Hurricane

That first match was a tough one.

All three are tied so in the interest of expediting things, I retract my votes. Tanschien, Last Dinosaur, and Knoya Wa Hurricane move on. And in the interests of someone catching me if I screw up again, here is Bracket.

Exposition Owl has an Attraction to this French song by Paris Combo. Lakupo is not averse to Fighting in Built Up Areas as long as it's Ladytron singing in Bulgarian.

Daikaiju reports to Sgt Frog s he hears the Japanese call of Afro Gunso. RT-55J is first to the Finnish with Loituma's Ievan Polkka.

Attraction and Ievan Polkka, which really is very good despite the memetic associations making me like it less.

Looks like we're ding the Paris Polkka. Posting the Bracket once again.

Travel back with me to a little time we call the early 2010s. Gotye was somebody that we still knew, Taylor Swift was bridging the gap between country and pop, and Carly wanted you to call her (maybe). Obama got reelected, the MCU was really getting going, and we were all doing Psy's Gangnam Style, a Korean phenomenon that Falselogic has resurrected. And it's up against Daikaiju's pick...

Bubble Pop, a Korean pop song from 2011. Okay I know we're kind of nostalgic for the Obama era but geez.

Korean

Okay, so to change things up we have Falselogic's Italian nomination from Obama's second term, Giusy Ferreri's Volevo Te. And from Daikaiju we have Christopher Tin's Grammy winning Swahili track from Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Baba Yetu from a different presidential era...

God fucking dammit.
