This was bugging me yesterday and finally figured it out: the opening instrumental part of Moskau reminds me of Sound of Silence. I just listened to them side by side and it's obviously different in many ways but I dunno. Something just seems similar.

The other match today is a double dose of Yoko Kanno. For Kirin's choice, she teams up with Origa for the trilingual Inner Universe from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. Vaeran's track choice, Moon, was composed by Kanno and performed by Gabriella Robin in a fictional language for Turn A Gundam.

Well this sure is a pair of impossible match-ups. The HU are awesome (there's a reason they co-won this thing last time around) and this is my first exposure to Ningen Isu who seem fantastic and have apparently been doing this thing for forty years. And obviously everything Yoko Kanno does is amazing, with both these tracks being standouts. Dang.

Except for the "new guy" / drummer - he's only been with them for about 22 years.
