I was "on a moon" recently. Really, wasn't that bad. Quite nice, actually.
At the end of Megaman Legends 2, the cliffhanger ending leaves the player character, Mega Man Volnutt, on the moon. There was supposed to be a sequel but it never happened.
And that's why, unless you're already making the sequel, you should never end on a cliffhanger.
