Digital Down-Low for 07/17/2020: The Hero of Birds

Octopus Prime

Mysterious Contraption
(He/Him)
Which Beatle do you say corresponds to which Ninja Turtle? I know that Ringo is Mikey, but I'm at a bit of a loss for the other three.

Definitely feels like the kind of week where there's a Zelda game out, so nobody figured it was wise to bring out any particularly big guns to compete against it, and that means we're kicking things off with Fates of Ort, which I was going to pass off with a dismissive "eh", but then I watched the trailer and my interest was piqued! From said trailer, what we have here appears to be an old-timey computer RPG by way of... I guess Lolo and maybe Magicka? You've got a *whole whack* of varied magic spells you can combine in lots of ways but casting magic also hurts YOU, so you have to use as little magic as possible in order to survive dungeon crawls and monster attacks and whatnot.

It's also presently on sale, so I might gamble a tenner on it.

And speaking of video games that look like the creations of yesteryear Labyrinth City: Pierre the Maze Detective kind of looks like a Where's Waldo book, so I guess that counts! That's "Where's Wally" for all you Europeans out there, living in Europe. And I infer that this is based on a series of childrens books that is itself inspired by that Waldo, and the Where's he finds himself in.

Anyway there's... a bunch of mazes, and puzzles to solve to navigate those mazes.

Lotus Reverie: First Nexus ain't something I'm on firm ground with; since half the screenshots indicate that this is a visual novel, and half of them imply it's a strategy RPG, and the description just talks about how you have to budget your time properly and compares it to the Devil Survivor games; so I'm at least half interested in it, but have no context to see which half is most representative.

And as implied earlier, we have us a new Zelda game, by which I mean an Old Zelda game, BUT a New Old Zelda game that looks to try its darndest to fix what people disliked about it before; The Legend of Zelda: The Skyward Sword HD. Visit the scenic "sky" as you flap around on a bird in the first Zelda game ever! Put on a green hat! Chop up some friggin' dang gremblins! Visit a cistern! Befriend a Mole! But now all the motion controls are optional and interruptions from your Sword-Siri are far less common and half the screen isn't filled with an explanation of the controls.

There's also Fast Travel, but only if you spend extra money to get a bird statue to adorn your home with.

Within the Blade is a side-scrolling sneaks-em-up starring one of those wonderful people-choppers; a ninja. It looks quite a lot like Mark of the Ninja, in fact, except with far fewer bits.

ANd bringing up the rear we have Guild of Darksteel, which is another game thats "Like Dark Souls, Except". In this case, that "except" is "it looks like Prince of Persia".

So there's that!

And that's everything I know about as of Tuesday morning. That and the fact that the Streets of Rage 4 DLC; Mr. Xs Nightmare is out on Thursday, but I tend not to cover DLC, so that's more of a gentle reminder than something I need to assign a Simpson gif to. Remember that the police will not help you, you should trust only your fists!

Aw man, it looks like the DLC won't be included with GamePass.
