Commission a mashup?

When @Lumber Baron and I got married, for our first dance was a mashup of the Nina Simone and Muse versions of Feeling Good:

I did it very clumsily in Garageband on my Mac, and it just cut back and forth between the two versions by verse then had both of them were overlaid for outro. Our wedding was outside and the music was played off an iPod hooked into some resoundingly okay speakers so it was fine in that environment. But I'd love to have a version that's listenable with headphones and just overall better than the cut and paste job I did.

I have no idea where to start with this though, no artists in mind, etc. Has anyone done something like this before? Since this is licensed music is this an issue? I have the original mp3 somewhere to use as a guide.

Also I don't want to insult someone by starting the process then realizing I can't afford it. What would be a general cost range for something like this? I have absolutely no idea but am hoping it's no more than $100?

I just messed around with the files a bit in Audition and I don't think I have the skill to pull off a mashup, but just to answer your question about the licensing, since this is for personal use that shouldn't be an issue. No license holders are going to send you a cease and desist over something that exists only on your hard drive.

I did a quick check and it looks like you can get this kind of service on sites like Fiverr (if that's something you're willing to do).

Ah, that makes sense, thanks!

I've vaguely heard of Fiverr before and will check it out, thanks!
