Hah, hey @LBD_Nytetrayn , I just saw your comment over on Comics Kingdom about warming up to the new guy doing the Popeye Sunday strips - which I only happened to be reading because I've been following said "new guy"'s regular comic for, like, decades now.

(New guy is Randy Milholland of Something Positive and occasional other side projects. He's always been a Popeye fan and getting to write for the official strip is fulfilling a lifelong dream. Go him!)
That's awesome! He definitely seems cut out for it! =D

Yeah that’s pretty good. I’ve had the original thimble theaters and the newer “popeye” strips bookmarked for a while and I definitely prefer the EC Segar years but this looks promising.

Not a fan of the comics kingdom paywall that I don’t recall popping up before. Making me use private browsing to read my funnies like some sort of deviant.

Yeah, that's pretty annoying, not to mention inconsistent as to when it comes up. You think they've realized their folly, but then, hey, it's back!

There IS a trick to beating it, however...

Right click and open image in new tab from where they try to sell you a print of that day's strip.

Evan Dahm, the author of Rice Boy, is nearing completion on his magnum opus: Vattu. It the story of an empire and the peoples it has displaced, and it has been one of my favorite webcomics since it started in 2010. Some of Dahm's work can get a little dreamlike, but Vattu has been relatively grounded in comparison for most of its run. The art and writing are top-notch, and the only reason I'm not sad it's ending is because I'm looking forward to seeing what he creates next.

A while ago my friends were all sharing this comic:

And I liked it and completely forgot about it. But yesterday I rediscovered Cat's Cafe and wanted to bring it up here. It's borderline platitudes of self-care but also isn't afraid to talk about anxiety and mental health in a detached fashion, it's worth checking out. I especially identify with this one:

That was great!
Also I was literally just in St. Louis on the waterfront like a week ago (and grew up near there) so that’s a fun connection.

Well now I'm really curious what this old kid's TV show is, and I haven't managed to google up anything that looks quite right (side note, man, cheap predatory possibly-algorithmically-generated kid videos on YouTube really drown out useful search results for this sort of thing).

My first thought was The Family -Ness (google it), but the art style kind of makes me think it is supposed to be something more puppet-based, like Sigmund and the Sea Monsters. Might be a pastiche?

Two of my friends started a podcast about webcomics, webcomic history, and their impact on the internet!

It's a very pleasant listen so I'd definitely recommend it.
