Alternatively, maybe the eyeballs aren't ammunition, but actually part of the gun, so it's basically just a raygun with one or two eyeballs as the energy source. Although in that case, I prefer the previous idea.

I must respectfully disagree with Sauron, because birds, unlike dinosaurs, survived. Or rather, dinosaurs survived by becoming birds. There is, in my opinion, nothing "lesser" about them.
