Gonna be honest, that's a lot more fighting games than I was expecting, or would like. Oh well, I'll still be getting this.

Feels kind of self sabotaging given how the Darkstalkers games is one of the selling points of the Fighting Game Collection, like, three weeks earlier

My thoughts, assuming the leak's legit:

Honestly I expected there to be overlap with other compilations after the first one had some Street Fighter games and brawlers in it.

That said, assuming these games can be bought individually for $2 like the last compilation (eventually) allowed, I'm fine with this. Like I know the more specialized compilations are better value for features and bonus content, but usually I'm just interested in a few specific games.

Anyway, a li'l disappointed by the continued lack of any 3D or 3D-ish stuff, but Saturday Night Slam Masters is a pretty big pull considering the rights issues that had kept the game from being rereleased. Also nice to see the Mega Man arcade games there.

I won't buy all of these, but I'll sure as heck buy some of these. I'm actually thinking I'd prefer to have these games a'la carte in Capcom Arcade Stadium 2, rather than buying them all (plus two extra Vampire Saviors) in the fighting game collection. Two bucks each for games of Capcom's caliber is much easier to swallow than eight dollars each for whatever obscurity deep from the bowels of licensing hell Hamster is offering every week. Ooh, Atomic Robo-Kid and MagMax! The unending excitement!

One thing, though. Could you give us the Naomi version of Alpha 3 with the extra characters? Kind of bites that I have to dig out my Vita every time I want to play a full-featured version of this game.

I'm definitely here for the Mega Man arcade games and Slam Masters.

Heck, I may even go ahead and get the original Street Fighter, if the price is right.

They didn’t announce that you could buy the games in this piece-meal yet, yet. IIRC it was quite a while before that became an option in the first collection, and if I could save a bit of scratch by *not* repurchasing the things I already have on other Capcom collections, well… good.

My hope is that the Darkstalkers and Street Fighters are all in one pack together so I can ignore them, lol. I have the SF Anniversary and preordered Fighting Collection, I'm good

I have a lot of nostalgia for Black Tiger - the Pizza Hut I used to occasionally visit had it there.

That game had a nasty habit of setting traps in places where you weren't expecting them. Oops! You just triggered a man-eating plant which poisoned you and took away your ability to throw handfuls of knives! Oops! You were crushed by a falling boulder! Oops! You found a fire bomb in that treasure chest instead of treasure! And so on.

I'm in. And at $3.99 each, yeah, I'm grabbing the ones I mentioned. Maybe a few others.

Not sure if I want to go all-in on $39.99 for the entire thing, though.

One thing that bugs me is that they're reverting to Japanese titles for a couple of games, like what they did with the first one. It's not Gun.Smoke now, it's Gan Sumoku. I presume this is to evade a lawsuit from Viacom, but Gan Sumoku is literally "Gun Smoke" in romanji. There's no difference! How could this possibly insulate them from legal action? All it does is annoy me, like it did with whatever they renamed Trojan and MERCS.

You're not wrong! It's not exactly a fair game, but I love it just the same.

The option for all 32 titles for $39.99 is called “Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium Bundle 1”, so make of that what you will.

Similar to the original Capcom Arcade Stadium released last year, players can expect an abundance of customization and gameplay options in Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium, including:

  • Online leaderboards: Climb the ladder and see how you stack up against other players.
  • Display settings: A variety of display settings (Normal, Arcade, Full Screen), screen filters, arcade cabinet designs and frames to personalize every gaming experience and maximize the feeling of playing at your own home arcade.
  • Gameplay options: Including adjustable Game Speed (from “Very Slow” to “Very Fast”) and Difficulty Level to increase accessibility – or to give yourself an added challenge.
  • Rewind: This Rewind feature is available across all Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium games and allows players to jump back 10 seconds in time to save themselves (or a friend) from any unforeseen dangers. Whether you’re struggling to defeat a boss or want to practice a tricky segment of a game, the Rewind feature unlocks a whole new dimension of gameplay.
  • Invincibility mode: Play all the titles in the collection in an invincible state, available as free DLC!
All players start out with SONSON, the 2D side-scrolling platformer first released in 1984, for free. Players who pre-order or purchase Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium before August 5, 2022 will receive the “Display Frames Set 1,” which gives players access to 32 title-specific display frames that open new customization options for their digital arcade cabinets. Additionally, players who pre-order or purchase Capcom Fighting Collection™ before September 30, 2022 will receive Three Wonders, which packs three arcade games into one, as a bonus game for Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium.

With Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium, players have the freedom to build up their own personalized collections by purchasing individual titles for $3.99 each. For maximum nostalgia, players can choose to purchase the “Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium Bundle 1” at $39.99 for access to all 32 titles.

Original Capcom Arcade Stadium players also receive bonus content in Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium, including:
  • Capcom Arcade Stadium Music & Lights: Players who have save data from Capcom Arcade Stadium receive access to this new feature that allows you to change the colors and music for the menu screens.
  • Instruction Card Backgrounds: Anyone who purchased at least one title from Capcom Arcade Stadium will be able to set instructions and key art from past titles as their background for the game.
Lastly, to celebrate Capcom’s 39th anniversary and the first year since the release of Capcom Arcade Stadium, we are making Street Fighter II - The World Warrior - available to download for free in Capcom Arcade Stadium through July 21, 2022.

You're really getting hosed if you buy these a'la carte. Ten games will cost $39.90. At that point, you might as well buy all 32 for the same price (and I might; it's not out of the question as the selection is very good).

Yeah, I was only looking at maybe four, then Nadia wants some others, and by that point, it was like "well, shoot... may as well go all in."

You can play some of these on previous Capcom collections for the PSP/Vita... I think I got both Remixed and Reloaded for five dollars each in a past sale. Some of the games are very good, and others are very Speed Rumbler. (People have been singing the praises of Jackal so much that they've forgotten what it's like when someone takes overhead vehicular combat and does it wrong.) Also, Tiger Road is very much in that unforgiving Ghosts 'n Goblins vein, except with more restrictive levels and an ancient Chinese atmosphere. You will be forced into pits and spikes on a regular basis, to the point where you'd think it was the game's fetish to watch you suffer and die.

Anyway. If you can't wait for this to get released and need to satisfy that craving right now, the PSP games will provide suitable methadone. Similarly, there's an Xbox 360 collection with many of the old arcade games on it. Unfortunately, those games are for arcade hardware prior to the CPS-1, and look incredibly dated as a result.

Slam Master
(he, etc.)
I'm unreasonably bothered that they paid Tetsuo Hara for Slammasters, but not Muscle Bomber Duo or Slammasters II: Ring of Destruction, both of which are better games.
