It's bad and irresponsible. At the same time, if they were going to cancel/reschedule games because of the wildfires, they basically should just cancel the season because those fires in Canada aren't going to go away until it gets cold again.
The end of the Royals game last night, a walk off balk, meant I got to review the balk rule:
BALK RULES! IMPORTANT!
1. You can’t just be up there and just doin’ a balk like that.

1c-b. Once the pitcher is in the stretch, he can’t be over here and say to the runner, like, “I’m gonna get ya! I’m gonna tag you out! You better watch your butt!” and then just be like he didn’t even do that.
1c-b(1). Like, if you’re about to pitch and then don’t pitch, you have to still pitch. You cannot not pitch. Does that make any sense?
1c-b(2). You gotta be, throwing motion of the ball, and then, until you just throw it.
1c-b(2)-a. Okay, well, you can have the ball up here, like this, but then there’s the balk you gotta think about.
1c-b(2)-b. Fairuza Balk hasn’t been in any movies in forever. I hope she wasn’t typecast as that racist lady in American History X.

The balk rule is so silly. It's never called for the reason it was intended, to prevent deception of baserunners. Meanwhile, pitchers with good pickoff moves are praised for their deception that doesn't technically break the balk rule.

Watching a pretty large chunk of people rush to absolve Trevor Bauer of everything forever because he settled his suit and released a video showing why he totally didn't do it guys for realsies, is not surprising, but it's still disgusting. Never a good time when the domestic abuse enjoyers log on.

But like, Texas had a better run differential than Baltimore. The regular season tells us more about teams than the playoffs, but it isn't perfect either.

I'm mad that the D-Backs swept the Brew Crew out, but fuck the Dodgers, and I'm no huge Phillies fan, so I guess that's where I'm at now? (I'm not really watching anything that's left, hockey and football are in full-swing and NBA starts in like a week and a half.)

The Royals closer has given up more runs than their starters through 6 games.
Just stopping by to note that Bobby Witt, Jr. is very good at baseball. I think he batted something like .490 in July. Just absurd.
Looks like the Guardians don't have the best record in baseball anymore but I'm still rooting for them. Go Cleveland!
The Yankees have literally the two best hitters in baseball this season by wRC+ and adjusted OPS+. Unfortunately the rest of the lineup struggles to be average at best and their rotation has been bad for over a month. They are tied for first. Weird team.
