April 2026 New Games Thread

Violentvixen

(She/Her)
The basic idea is to list new games that you are interested in, as well as games you are potentially curious about or want to give wider attention to. You can briefly describe them or ask other people to help fill you in. The hope is that regular threads like these can act as a collective filter/discovery mechanism to help people decide what is worth checking out.

"New games" means any new title that is being released or ported this month in any capacity (not "backlogs/what you are playing this month"). The angle here is sharing your anticipation and promoting game discovery (as opposed to sharing comments about a first playthrough in progress - that belongs elsewhere).
  • If you want a handy list that covers most of the major upcoming games of the month, here are lists of upcoming games:

Feel free to post other lists or list videos that you find useful.
If there is already a thread on TT about a game, please add a link to it.

Final request: If you are the first person to mention a game please provide (at minimum) a short sentence description. (If it is a very big AAA release though, then don't worry about it.) This is a good convention that makes the thread more useful as a discovery mechanism, and especially helps out anyone who doesn't follow the news as closely as you.

Right now, there's not a lot that interests me in April, but, crucially; Vampire Crawlers is coming out and it's a Deckbuilding dungeon crawler based on Vampire Survivors and oh no, that game is going to be the death of me.

We've also got Darwins Paradox, which appears to be Metal Gear, except you are an octopus and it's overall, much sillier. And that's also an easy way to sell me on a game

Starting this thread a little early because I'll be busy at work the last couple days of March. I'll come back to update OP with PS+ stuff once it's posted.

The big game for me this month is Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream on the 16th. There's a demo! Still absolutely baffled that this returned, loved the 3DS game.

Dosa Divas comes out on the 14th and is a unique-looking turn-based RPG about cooking and fighting an evil corporation and also mechs and I think you're all sisters? I played the steam demo a while ago and am bad at time-based hits but it seemed fun.

Tiny Bookshop comes to PS5 and Xbox on the 10th, I have it on Switch and it's on Steam too. This game is an absolutely wonderful shop management sim and I can't recommended it enough.

I'm interested in Tomodachi Life Living the Dream post-demo and Pragmata, but I'll likely be waiting a bit to pick those up due to real life expenses.

Indie-wise, Dosa Divas is coming out midway through, and I'm very intrigued about it.

Gecko Gods is another indie I'm curious about, and I hope it captures some of the fun of other animal based indie games.

I intend to lose a lot in Pokémon Champions, the new official permanent platform for competitive pokemon battling.

This looks cute, but after Big Hops I'm gonna need someone to tell me if it'll give me motion sickness first.

I still need to download the demo for Pragmata but it certainly looks interesting. Beyond that, I'm thinking of checking out Saros, the new Housemarque game. It appears to be a somewhat more palatable Returnal in terms of difficulty, with the ability for permanent stat upgrades after runs. (I don't generally like games that can be described in "runs" but there are exceptions to every rule - Hades and Returnal being two.)

Oh, hey, South of Midnight comes to PS5 and Switch 2 tomorrow. I was pretty curious about this one, so I'm glad to see it on platforms I own. (I'm gonna say tomorrow is close enough to April that it counts.)

South of Midnight is fantastic. As a person from the deep south, it was both heartwarming and jarring to see my culture shown to me. There are scenes in that game that I had to pause and take a moment, like when the sun hits the water a certain way in the swamp areas. I kept thinking to myself, "I've been on a fishing boat in the bayou at sunrise. I've seen this. I've felt this." (The game's version of the rougarou is different than ours but it made me smile just the same.)

Really something special. I just wish there was a physical version available.

a friend of mine from another forum is releasing a non-linear exploratory platformer called Derelict Star on April 2:

It's amazing and highly recommended. I should note that it's also really emotional and there's quite a bit of dark story stuff, darker than I expected based on the trailers.

this game is out. i played it for an hour. it's good.

if you ever wanted to play a non-kaizo-mario game that teaches you how to enjoy a "regrab", it's a game for you.
As a kaizo Mario player who's often wished I could do regrabs in other games, you've officially piqued my interest.

yeah. the author plays kaizo stuff and has cited it as an inspiration.

Do they go by "gate" everywhere? Would I know them by another name in the SMW community? (I'm just curious if it's someone I've spoken to before, there are a surprising amount of game devs who travel in the kaizo circles.)

Anyway, I've put it on my wishlist for now with the intent to grab it when I have more free time. Thanks for the heads up!

Realized I'd forgotten to come back and add the monthly PS+ games, whoops. Done!

Also here's a game I'm interested in that got a release date for this month: Snap and Grab, where you take photos to help plan heists.

That looks neat. For whatever reason, I love these photo-taking games. I was a huge fan of Pokemon Snap long before I cared about Pokemon. (I still don't give a shit about Pokemon.) I haven't played enough Fatal Frame to have a solid opinion but I remember liking what little I did play.

Going to keep an eye out for that one.

Titanium Court, one of the most bizarre demos I've played in a long time, also announced that they'll be releasing this month, on the 24th. It's really hard to describe this. A Match 3 Tower Defense Visual Novel Roguelike maybe? There's a demo on Steam, I highly recommend trying this weird thing out.

No price yet but I have some Steam credit so assuming it's not crazy expensive I'm probably picking it up.
