Apple TV+ is one of way too many streaming services I'm subscribed to

Apple gave me a year of this thing with my new phone. What's worth watching? I've watched a few episodes of Mythic Quest so far which is pretty good. I'm sure I'll check out the Loren Bouchard cartoon at some point.

I’m watching Central Park, and it’s really good. It is literally the only thing I am watching, and feel like I’m getting the full value out of this free year because of it.

Fraggle Rock is on it, that ain’t nothin

There’s a Beastie Boys documentary I’ve been meaning to watch.

i’m also going to get a year of HBO Max through my internet provider, and I recently signed in to friends accounts for Disney+ and Criterion. There are so many streaming services!

I had been asking myself where the stupid viacom one was because I want to watch old episodes of Salute your shorts, damn it, but I guess that's the CBS one? Soon to be Paramount +? Put Welcome Freshmen on there, cowards.

I thought most of Mythic Quest ranged from okay to annoying, but Episode 5 (which is not directly tied to the main show) is one of the most amazing episodes of television. It's brilliant.

Yeah I just watched that one. Thought for a few minutes that I had somehow run out of episodes and it had jumped to a new show.

I also received a free year and have been hesitating to activate it because I have no idea what to watch. I guess Central Park might be something I would enjoy? I'll keep an eye on this thread to see if anything cool is added to the service in the future.

I want to watch Central Park but own no Apple devices other than a 15 year old iPod Classic. Hopefully they'll just let me pay $20 for a digital copy at some point.

I just found out that the free subscription that comes with Apple devices doesn't stack. Because of my job I go through a new Apple device a year, on average, so I was happy I had a "free" lifetime subscription. Alas.

I guess I have to watch everything in there before its too late.

I’m just now getting into Central Park... Is there an album? I’m loving every song so far.

We got a 7-day free trial to watch Wolfwalkers (highly recommended!). I kind of want to rewatch Secret of Kells too, but it expires tomorrow and I doubt I'll have time so eh.

Edit: Was going to put it on just to rewatch a couple scenes but nope, apparently you have to pay extra? This is stupid. Same with Raya and the Last Dragon which I was excited to see while going through there, what a dumb service.

I just got a years sub with my purchase of an Apple product, so I'm wondering what on here is most worth checking out?

Currently looking at Ted Lasso, Central Park, and Wolfwalkers. What else?

How's Foundation? (Not familiar with the source material)

Foundation is interesting. I’m not sure I buy into the themes they’re presenting, but the character work is fun, as is the speculative scifi aspects of it. It’s also a gorgeous show.

I mentioned in my last Television mini-review post that Foundation feels like three different shows with three very different quality levels among them. But it is always pretty.

Recasting the daughter on Central Park was the right move but I’m glad to see they found a way to bring Kristen Bell back in season 3. Girl has pipes.

Low key amazed at how similar Emmy Raver-Lampman sounded to Bell's performance. I'd have never noticed on a casual listen.

Since Season 2 is coming out in a few days and I've heard good things we watched the first episode of Prehistoric Planet, which is essentially the Planet Earth series but paleontology.

It's fun! But while the PR makes a lot of noise about following current science I would have loved a bit more, or just an acknowledgment at certain points that "there are many theories about this but we're only showing one". I do get that's not the vibe of this though.

But still, I recommend it even if it's not very deep. Still very cool to see the designs and their nesting/feeding/behaviour theories.

Ted Lasso has completed its gradual transformation from an amusing half-hour comedy with occasional sappy drama to a sappy hourlong drama with the occasional chuckle. This final season has resultingly been quite a slog to the finish line.

Aw, we’ve been enjoying it, but we’re suckers for characters caring about each other.

It's not bad in and of itself, there's just too much of it. FWIW, Hannah Waddingham killed it as a Eurovision presenter last week.
