Oh wow, fully half are the holo cards, so there are only 24 villagers to collect. I’m definitely buying a few of these packs, as that villager list is pretty dense with cool and unique folks. I wonder how viable it’d be to try and trade some of them for old ones I still want, like Coco and Ankha.
Don't swear by this as a sure thing, but upon a little pattern recognition and deductive work (and having the question put in my head in the first place by the possibility that Sasha is a pretty boy bun going by their names and looking up other names) I think I know how the personalities for the newest eight might pan out.
The new eight villagers are all laid out alternating between male and female and their personalities are laid out like so:
The new OLD eight have a layout that's pretty much identical. If it is, then we know which two have grown new personalities. (Roswell and Faith are Lazy and Normal respectively on GameCube.)
And if the NEW new villagers follow this same pattern...
Wow, this matches up really well for the most part. There's certainly the possibility that they might not fit this or even use all eight personality types for the new folks, but at the very least Marlo and Quinn being Cranky and Sisterly respectively definitely feels pretty likely. As does Tiansheng as a Jock. And we still could use a peppy deer and an octopus with an unrepresented personality.

Even if I didn't have to scrimp 'cuz of the move I was just gonna wait 'til there's less demand for the cards to try and get some. Though I'm not sure if there ever will be less demand; when I went by Target a few weeks ago before the move they had a healthy supply of Sanrios but their Series 1-4 cards were sold out.
And they still haven't reprinted Welcome Amiibo. Thought they'd be added to Series 5 to fill it out before the Direct but nope.

Dang, guessed I missed that, I only see the "coming soon" thing. Oh well, these are more for fun than anything else so I'll give it a shot when they come out.Series 5 up for preorder at Best Buy. 3 per customer, and it’s shipping only, at least around here. Nigh a week later, my opinions on what personalities the new eight might be split up by character. Opinions are my own.
It'd be amazing if they were a pretty jock boi (and a li'l unsettling if they're a bug-talking gravy-licking lazy boi if the Amiibo ordering coincidences hold any water), but I think the far more likely outcome is that they're Peppy Bun #9 and their gender neutral names are a case of "My parents really wanted a boy bunny".
I'd prefer a second normal or sisterly if they're indeed a girl, but I'm not counting on it. We've had a new peppy bun every generation up until ACNH and I doubt they'll pass up the chance to add a new one in this alleged last set of villagers.
I' m not really sure. Normal, snooty, or sisterly could all work. Doubt the ACNH team would default a boy to the astro dress but you never know; Smug#2 would be cool.
What I do know is that space squirrel is amazing and has some awesome starry names.
Goku might not get in Smash but he sure as heck got into Animal Crossing! Betting on jock or smug; hoping smug.
Hoping for peppy but I'm prepared for any of the four female personalities being a possibility. Some people think Shino is a boy 'cuz of the horns, but horns are never exclusively a male animal trait and deer villagers don't exclusively cover cervines...And even if they did, most female reindeer grow antlers.
The Godhamster here is either our second cranky or third smug ham. Betting on the former.
Opinions are pretty divided on whether or not Sasha has a girl personality or a boy personality. But despite the boyish first impression, Petri is definitely a girl. Her alternate names are nigh exclusively feminine and if you look close enough you can see her eyes through the glasses.
Hoping for a sisterly but I would still welcome a new snooty mouse option.
I have no frickin' clue. They are a robot, they could be anything. "Anything" probably won't be our second female octopus ever, though.
A smug would be welcome, that personality hasn't been covered by the squid bois yet.

Yeah, I’ve always bought them a la carte, though I worry the out-of-control secondary market will make ones like Raymond take off in price regardless of rarity. What’s annoying is that I can easily see these cards getting super expensive but also worthless on the trading market due to the tiny pool.

I think it’s funny that Kapp’n just deals directly in Miles rather than tickets. I’m guessing the designers aren’t a fan of how Nook Miles Tickets turned into a kind of in-game cryptocurrency.
Glancing at Nookazon it looks like the black market has remained remarkably stable, probably because NMTs are harder to cheat your way into than other resources. You have to mine them at a pretty consistent rate. It’s honestly probably healthy for the game, even if it renders Bells nigh useless as currency. Looks like the current conversion rate is 50,000 Bells to one NMT, which, yikes.

personally i'm happy for anything that lets me skip four text boxes. like i get that's part of The Charm but it's also like, oh my god my dudes just let me do the thing instead of making me sit through four or more text boxes of dialogue
I already knew about the popper thing, but catching wasps with the net has been easier than ever since shaking trees with held items became a thing in Welcome Amiibo and 2500 Bells (3750 if you save for Flick) is a nice chunk of cash for a guaranteed daily pest.
Agreed. It's like, neat trick, but less profitable by far.

Yes! I'm thrilled that Sasha is a boy bunny and not the designated Generational Peppy Bunny addition like I thought he still might be for a while. Granted, I would've preferred Jock#3 to Lazy#5, but it's still awesome we have a cute bunny boy.
