I couldn't give a care about Cassian Andor, but if this means we'll get more K-2SO I am all for that.

"What if C-3P0 but asshole" was a highlight of Rogue One and I'm surprised nobody has brought him back from the dead given how easy it would be to do so. I know, he got shot up pretty bad and the planet exploded, but that kinda thing is easier for a droid to come back from than the human cast.

I like Kay :( It's a tough choice between him and AP-5, but ultimately Kay is my favorite droid in the franchise because he's snarky but deeply caring and loyal.

I'm amused that people don't remember Cassian (which is fair, since Rogue One didn't develop its characters as much as I'd have liked, even if he was the one who got the best-defined arc) when Diego Luna's appearance in a Star War was a big deal for Mexican audiences, and Disney giving him a whole series to himself has gotten plenty of attention.

I know about the evil C-3P0 from the comics and HK-47. But I mean more in the smartass sense than in the kill-ya-dead sense. Not that they're not smartasses.

Granted, K-2SO did rake up quite the body count before he got fried.

I agree, but I get the impulse to be conservative with your big investment media franchise. Just coming from a Star Trek perspective - literally any time that franchise tries to do something different or push the envelope, fans wig out about how not Star Trek it is, and it isn't until possibly decades later that people begin to give it a chance.

I think it's got particular potential, that one. The early Rebellion were in a desperate position and Cassian has already been shown to be a very grey character. He could be very interesting if fleshed out. It's also got Tony Gilroy as a showrunner, and he co-wrote Rogue One.

Andor's got some real potential because he's from a Separatist world. Fighting the Empire is still basically fighting the Republic, for him. So there's some meat in the "common cause" angle here and how it brings together opposing groups for the Rebels; his goal isn't restoring the Republic, presumably. Would be interesting to explore that.

That's pretty great. One of my quibbles with the PT is that, at some point, the Separatists and the "alliance" of Senators "rebelling" against Palpatine must have had parallel goals, but since this is the Skywalker Show that never gets explored. I'd love to see how these two factions see each other, if they achieve some reconciliation, or if they continue on their (ahem) separate ways in the same manner Saw Guerrera was a terrorist with hs own agenda completely apart from the Alliance.

Yeah, it's why he says "I've been in this fight since I was six years old" or whatever the exact quote was. He's kind of the opposite of Saw, where the Republic aided his fight against the Separatists and then just turned right around and oppressed his planet as the Empire.

I enjoy the way Waypoint Radio gets into the themes and politics of media they cover, and I like Star Wars, so I'm definitely interested in A More Civilized Age. Austin, Rob, Natalie, and Ali from Friends at the Table will discuss Episodes I and II and then jump into The Clone Wars.

I don't care about a single dang one of these right now but I'll probably get intrigued around when they come out and end up watching them all, unless they release to universal revile or something.

Also, Hayden Christenson is coming back as Vader for the Obi-Wan show, but wouldn't that mean it's more likely he'll be playing in flashbacks, or maybe a few mask-off sequences? I mean, I guess Hayden is 6 feet tall - always struck me as much smaller in the movies for some reason - but that's still a noticeably small DV.

...Today I learned they constructed a custom Vader costume, with extensions, so he could be in the suit in RotS. Still, someone else entirely played Vader in Rogue One, and I don't see why they'd do anything differently, for that.

Yeah, I assume it's mask-off sequences too. Which could be more frequent when Vader is younger and thus maybe doesn't need the life support as much but who knows.

Maybe it's Force visions or something along those lines, where Obi-wan is troubled by what happened between him and Anakin, and he sees Anakin as Anakin would be if he had not turned into Darth Vader. I don't know, I'm just riffing at this point.

That would be cool. I'd imagine Obi-wan is carrying around a fair bit of guilt and that would be interesting. Visions of an alternate happier present.

Have you watched Rebels? He only puts in a very brief appearance, but his final duel with Maul is so good.

I listened to this, and it was great. I will probably watch Clone Wars now, just to follow along with the podcast.

Watching Clone Wars for the first time so I'm prepared for future episodes of the A More Civilized Age podcast and for all of its problems I like that there's an episode of this children's cartoon that ends like this:

Hawkish Dude (dying breath): To honor the sacrifices of the fallen, we must continue this war.
Senator Audience Self-Insert (walking over his corpse to end the war, basically): rip to you but im different
