The Bad Batch started its second season this week.
Enjoyable premiere, a two-part heist to mostly remind us of the group dynamics. I'm a bit worried they're Flanderizing Wrecker and Tech a bit, but we'll see how the season goes.

Nobody else watching Bad Batch S2?
I think it's fine, but it's a pretty slow burn. I wonder how much longer the Bad Batch are gonna keep having to watch the Empire fuck everything up before they finally just say screw it let's join the Alliance. Because like, cmon. I dunno how they aren't there yet. It's weird that all these other clones have already gone AWOL to fight the Empire but these inherently free thinker clones are still just kinda spinning their wheels.

I've been watching it. The two-part premiere was a fun return to form, and episodes 4 and 5 were fun excursions even if they did feel a bit wheel-spinny.
But episode 3 was great. Focused entire on Crosshair with no sign of the main cast, just showing off the casual cruelty of the new empire and how callously decisions are made. Not to mention with real-world events in Ukraine and a Russian invasion where territories are claimed despite opposition from local authorities, an episode where an Empire stooge swoops in and is all 'lol I own this rock now' and getting smacked down for it was gratifying, even if he DID eventually win by the end we know it's a hollow victory since the civilians are against the Empire.

One thing that has been fairly consistent in the second season of The Bad Batch is that the episodes all about Crosshair have been considerably more engaging than the ones with the titular Batch.
Case in point this week, where the thing that has been obviously building up all series finally happens and Crosshair finally gets enough of an Empire toady's bullshit and goes rogue. Looking forward to his next inevitable reunion with the gang.

Yeah, the show is better whenever it moves away from the Batch for a while.
The Bad Batch has a two-parter this week and, whew, it finally decided to shake off the doldrums surrounding the titular batch all season and have em doing stuff. Quite a bit happens in the second part, namely Omega was taken and discovers she has a sister of sorts, Sid has finally decided to do her inevitable betrayal of the Batch (but I expect her to come around and redeem herself because she's a likeable curmudgeon in a kid's show) and most importantly Tech appears to fall to his death. But, again, it's a kid's show and it's a 'fall into cloudy nothingness' sort of death so I wouldn't be surprised if he survived somehow.
I wouldn't be surprised if he lives as well, but I'm also not betting on it either. This entire season has been going pretty hard on the doom-and-gloom, and Bad Batch seems like it's trying way too hard to grow up with the demo that originally watched Clone Wars. There's been a lot of murder in the season thus far for "a kid's show" so I could see them wanting to make this one stick. The sister-reveal was telegraphed like it was supposed to be a big shocker, but it also couldn't have been more plain/obvious when they have the same voice actress doing the exact same voice and wasn't even trying to hide it, plus they have the same face.
Sid always sucked and I would rather she explode violently than be redeemed in any way.

Basically every time I try to watch a Bad Batch season I have to muscle through Sid's appearances to get to the good stuff (any and all Omega content). She's so tedious.
Oh dang the two parter of The Bad Batch last week was season finale. I was looking forward to seeing the next episode.

I haven't watched any of this beyond the episode from Aardman Animation, but that one was extremely adorable.
Ejecting the pretense of an 'anime' anthology for a broader animation anthology from more varied places/creators across the globe was probably a good idea.
I'm not a big fan of these animation anthologies that large Western media corporations commission. Especially when they're paired up with Japanese studios. I think the best case scenario, is you get some neat little vignettes that leave you wanting more and wishing those ideas were built out into a full fledged mini-series or more. And that just never happens, potentially leading to disappointment/frustration. Worst case scenario, language barriers, or disinterested studios looking for cheap paychecks, or a myriad of other issues leaves a disjointed or uninteresting product. I don't really think these are all that good for the animation industry either. They're essentially hit-and-runs versus any sustained work and gained prestige. It would be nice if any of these multimedia megacorps would use these as test pilots for making bigger projects but to date nobody has, because they are essentially just treated as glorified, esoteric advertisements.

So this got me thinking - could a Star Wars horror movie work? And if one was made then what could it be about?
There have been some attempts in book form, such as the YA novel series "Galaxy of Fear", and the pretty decent zombie romp "Death Troopers".
Me, I've thought about a story set after the sequel films, in which a bioweapon kills all life on Coruscant, but the city-planet is haunted by the ghosts of all the dead Jedi, driven insane by the event.

That was a tie-in for the old Star Wars MMO, as I recall.
So, I liked the first two episodes. Wasn’t outstanding or anything. There were moments where it felt like the show was going through the motions of being Star Wars
in a way that felt shallow and contrite. I assume the deviant art mural and Sabine’s scribbles were all callbacks to Rebels, which is lost on me and feels out of place in the otherwise cohesive visual presentation. The world building stuff was mostly pretty interesting except for the dumb macguffin but that’s just par for the course. The characters are interesting but I am not a fan of all these Jedi running around in a post-Return of the Jedi setting like, where were you when Luke and Palpy needed y’all. The practical sets, puppetry, and backdrops all look stunning. Some of the robot mocapping looked like it belonged in a video game, but that’s not a big deal. I feel like the AR-Wall usage has gotten a little better, but it’s still not perfect and kinda obvious. All and all, a promising start, even if the tone is a little too pensive. I look forward to seeing more, and the show comes at a great time when everything else I’m watching has died down

I like Rebels and it was funny/interesting/cool seeing so much of it in live action.
But there's really not more plot here than a standard Rebels episode, which is a problem when the runtime is twice as long.
Also, the Star Wars shows' thing where they keep making lightsabers less lethal is weird.
