Olli

(he/him)
1. If you had a ventriloquist dummy, what would you name it?
Lina Ginetti
2. Which Looney Tune cartoon is your favourite?
Can't think of a single specific one. Something with Bugs Bunny in it.
3. When's the last time you kissed someone or something?
Yesterday
4. What is your vampire defense plan?
If you can't beat them, join them.
5. Have you ever been to the Great Wall of China?
No.

Martin was a very frequent guest but he was never actually a cast member.
Huh! Did not realize that.

1. If you had a ventriloquist dummy, what would you name it?
2. Which Looney Tune cartoon is your favourite?
3. When's the last time you kissed someone or something?
4. What is your vampire defense plan?
5. Have you ever been to the Great Wall of China?
1. I find them quite creepy so probably just Dummy and would donate/gift it very quickly.
2. Wile E Coyote
3. This morning when my spouse woke up.
4. So if it's an actual vampire my house is always full of garlic so throw garlic at them until I can get to my swords and stab 'em. If it's a crazy person thinking they're a vampire then I'm legit terrified and just running away.
5. Nope! I'd like to go to China someday but it seems unlikely.

To be fair, I think Plan A works equally well in both situations.

1. Slam Fanfango

2. I’m torn between Daffy and Wile E.

3. Probably my dog just before she passed

4. “Defense” may be a strong term; I don’t see why people are upset with them.

5. Heck, I haven’t even been to a Just Okay Wall in China

1. Naming it might give it power. Would avoid.
2. Boring answer is Duck Amuck. It's perfect. That said, latecomer to the brilliance/weirdness of the Dover Boys.
3. Probably my nephew a year ago.
4. Trap them between a bunch of houses they aren't invited into.
5. Yep. Twice. If you go, there are spots off to the side to actually have a little picnic, if you so desire. Recommended.

1) Which is your favourite European comic book?
2) When's the last time a video game plot twist totally took you by surprise?
3) What cartoon series do you think is woefully underlooked?
4) If you had your own ragtag team of mercenaries, what would you name them?
5) Have you ever wielded a sword?

1) Which is your favourite European comic book?
I could probably write a whole thread on the topic. I'll always have love for classics like Asterix, Gaston, Lucky Luke, Tintin, Spirou, various Moebius things, Smurfs, Moomins, Corto Maltese, Judge Dredd, etc. I'll choose a less known favorite: Lily the Thief by Janne Kukkonen:

2) When's the last time a video game plot twist totally took you by surprise?
I enjoy being taken by surprise by plot twists, so that happens frequently for me. Since the latest game I've been playing is Disco Elysium, I'll just vaguely say many individual things there.
3) What cartoon series do you think is woefully underlooked?
Small Potatoes

4) If you had your own ragtag team of mercenaries, what would you name them?
"Behemoth" is my go-to name for any team since FFTA.
5) Have you ever wielded a sword?
At least a boffer sword, if that counts.

1) Which is your favourite European comic book? So I own tons of Asterix because I loved it as a kid and collected it for years, but doubt I'd call it my favourite now. Looking at my shelf I lack European comics besides that. It's US and Japan, with Persepolis as the only other one. While Persepolis was published in French and a lot of it is set in Europe calling it a European comic feels weird since it's really about Iran.
2) When's the last time a video game plot twist totally took you by surprise? Everything about Pentiment is a plot twist, and I both didn't guess the thread puller and didn't realize I was heading into the final scenes when I was as I assumed some other background things needed to happen first.
3) What cartoon series do you think is woefully underlooked? I'm totally out of the loop with cartoons. Anything I saw is not going to be underlooked. Oh well.
4) If you had your own ragtag team of mercenaries, what would you name them? I would immediately nominate someone else for naming duties, although I would retain veto power.
5) Have you ever wielded a sword? Hell yeah. Fenced in high school and my dad taught theatrical fencing so we had legit swords around all the time. Then I met my spouse on the college fencing team!

1) Sonic the Comic, Smurfs, and possibly some Disney stuff, like with the Ducks.
2) I'm not 100% sure, but FF7 Remake seems like a solid bet.
3) New Adventures of He-Man
4) They weren't mercenaries, per se, but in a Mega Man X RPG, I had the Dragon Knights. Maybe their BN counterparts qualify, though...
5) Yes.

1) This is really hard. I too might choose Persepolis but I feel like there's a good one I've read I'm forgetting. But Eurocomics are something of a blindspot for me, outside of Tintin (which has good stuff but those early ones are repetitive due to the nature of serialization and some pretty standard cliffhangers. How many times is this fool going to get knocked out on an adventure).
2) Jeez, I feel like it's been forever. The Bioshock one, I guess. And that was at least a decade ago, I think. Again, there's probably a good one I'm forgetting.
3) Two More Eggs, the short cartoons from the creators of Homestar Runner they did for Disney. Apparently they were told to make it appropriate and otherwise had cart blanche to do their own thing.
Also, everyone needs to watch OddTaxi. I need everyone to watch OddTaxi
4) The Sharkmans
5) Just toy swords.

1) Dilbert.

*hours of laughter later (probably more than it generated from its content alone)* ...ah, but seriously, I'm not sure. I'd say Far Side, but hasn't that already come back under a "when I feel like it" kind of schedule?

2) Yes.

3) Seek professional help, assuming I wasn't able to somehow use it to my own ends.

4) Canada to Germany via England.

5) I don't know, and given how many people across the internet have misspelled it over the years, I'm assuming that looking at the name attached to this post isn't a valid option for determining it. (Seriously, if nothing else, is copy & paste really so frickin' hard?)

1. 7:30 exactly.
2. Catholicism. Didn't take because there is no god.
3. Nope. Probably best for all parties.
4. I'm not a big Prince man. Everyone seems to like him and I think the music is good but I never have a bit urge to listen to it. When Doves Cry is good.

4) Probably that one where the Joker is going through the Gotham museum, but I forget the name of it.

5. Probably on Tuesday with the preschoolers.

1. What time is it right now?
At the sound of the beep it will be 6:55PM. <beep>

2. What religion where you a part of in your youth?
When I was a kid we bounced around various churches, mostly on the conservative side of mainline Protestant, but I was confirmed in the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod—the denomination that my dad grew up in. I was never very happy about those churches’ attitudes towards science, and as I’ve gotten older and seen more things outside the context in which I was brought up, I’ve seen the terrible harm that they’ve done to human beings, too. I’m still a Christian today, though.

3. Have you ever flown a plane?
Man, I don’t even like driving cars. Putting me in charge of a plane would be a next-level bad idea.

4. What's your favourite Prince song?
When Doves Cry.

5. When is the last time you danced?
At my friends’ wedding last fall.

1. What would your first act be as Governor?
Assuming I could enact policies immediately and not have to worry about them being undone later? More rights and protections for trans people.

2. What's a good cat name?
Bippis

3. Which is your favourite Shakespeare play?
Uhh, Hamlet I guess

4. Do you have any allegies?
Not that I'm aware of

5. What's the last D & D character you played as?
An Aarakocra monk named Ezekiel (Zeke for short). He grew up in an isolated monastery not knowing anything about his past or where he came from, so he turned out pretty sheltered and naive, but he's very brave (to the point of recklessness, even) and extremely ride-or-die for the people he cares about. The campaign he came from stalled out a couple years ago, and he was pretty underpowered in fights, but I still have a soft spot for him anyway; he's just a scatterbrained idiot trying his best. One of the other players in that group is an artist, and I still want to commission them for some art of Zeke when they aren't so busy with college.

1. What would your first act be as Governor?
Writing my letter of resignation. I'd be a terrible politician.

2. What's a good cat name?
Tybalt, Prince of Cats!

3. Which is your favourite Shakespeare play?
Favorite tragedy: King Lear. Favorite comedy: I can't decide between Much Ado About Nothing and As You Like It.

4. Do you have any allergies?
A little mild seasonal stuff, and shellfish tends to upset my stomach. I really lucked out on the allergy front.

5. What's the last D & D character you played as?
If we're including Pathfinder, a human paladin named Ardeshir Anushirvan, whose major goal in life was to live up to the example of his heroic sister Asha. Ardeshir was having a hard time dealing with the gap between his expectations about being a paladin, fueled by the adventure stories he read when he was a kid, and the grim realities of trying to put down an undead plague. I tended to roll really badly on perception checks in that campaign, so it became canon that Ardeshir had a habit of getting lost in thought and not seeing what was under his nose. Our DM was going through his comprehensive exams at the time, and he ended up putting a lot of his anxiety and despair into the campaign, so my wife and I ended up quitting in the interest of keeping our own mental health together. In the years since we've kept meaning to find another campaign, but nothing has come together yet.

1) I like Cadenza's idea.
2) Anything that rhymes with "mango."
3) That one, you know... where they talk funny, and the people die.
4) Just seasonal, afaik.
5) Zeddemore Myr, a regular human who creates suits of magic-wielding armor to use on adventures after his older brother died on one such quest.

1. What would your first act be as Governor? Super local, but block Thornburgh Resort, an absolute scam that will cause massive environmental issues locally by stealing all the water for fucking golf courses. And if by some horrible thing abortion is no longer protected in Oregon I'd make it protected again as my first action.
2. What's a good cat name? Some sort of play on felis, Latin for cat.
3. Which is your favourite Shakespeare play? Oof, that's tough. I read MacBeth most recently and that has a lot of meat to it so I'll go with that.
4. Do you have any allergies? Amoxcillin, but any other penicillin is fine which is weird. And beta mercapto-ethanol. I found out about this allergy by going into anaphylactic shock in biochem lab, I don't recommend it! It's used for Western Blots, which are a huge part of cell culture and a lot of molecular biology. I had to wear one of those allergy bracelets in grad school and whole sections of the building and labs were off-limits to me because of it.
5. What's the last D & D character you played as? I really dislike making characters, and the last time I played D&D I was in the middle of Fire Emblem Fates. I liked Effie and they needed a tank so I just took her picture and looked at her stats at where I was in my playthrough and basically just converted them over. Also I made her eat a lot of food because this comic had come out fairly recently.

2. Crumpets

3. Macbeth

4. Something in KFC sets me off something fierce but I don’t know what. Also aspirin

1. Something to help indigenous peoples.
2. THE WRAITH!
3. I kind of have a soft spot for the trashiness of Titus Andronicus but I think the Tempest.
4. I spelled allergies wrong. Well, people got it anyway. I don't but I've had sensitivities and I used to get really uncomfortable in spring, like my throat was slightly closing. Don't get that anymore though.

Xenoblade Chronicles -style combat which revolves around toppling giant mechas and hitting them while they're down.

Any of the Uuno Turhapuro movies apply.
3. Do you want someone to say your name during sex? (if the question is too personal, you don't NEED to answer it)
Nope.
4. If you could put your brain in a dinosaur, which would you choose?
Pterodactyl

All of them kind of suck, really. Does The Atom count? He's at least Super Friends adjacent.

1. Did they do one that's just an 80s arcade with nothing but 80s games? That but also there is secret subplots going on. Not like a thriller but secret stories you can unearth like a "walking simulator". Getting better at games gets you more attention, more people want to talk to you and more friends are made who will confide in you.
2. Can't bring a specific to mind but probably something with "natives". Or for non-problematic reasons, maybe the Ewok movies. I should find out.
3. I've not had the sex despite being, if I'm lucky, halfway to death, but I feel like I might not like it if only because when someone says my name, I'm still scared that I'm in trouble. But then, maybe that's my thing. There's still a lot I don't know about myself.
