1) What is your favourite western TV series?
Adventures of Briscoe County Jr.
2) Have you ever seen a shark in person?'
Only via an aquarium
3) What is the last bar you've been to?
None? I'm not a drinker.
4) If they had to remake Casablanca, who do you think should direct?
Rian Johnson
5) Which Super Mario baddie is the most fun to defeat?
Birdo

1) What is your favourite western TV series?
My favorite Western series (in the “howdy, pardner” sense) is without a doubt Westworld.

2) Have you ever seen a shark in person?
Never in the wild, but I’ve most recently seen one at the New England Aquarium in Boston.

3) What is the last bar you've been to?
I’m not a drinker, either, so it’s been a while. Probably the last one was the Yankee Doodle Taproom in Princeton, New Jersey. It was nothing to write home about.

4) If they had to remake Casablanca, who do you think should direct?
I feel like this is the normiest conceivable choice, but I bet Steven Spielberg could handle that remake if anyone could.

5) Which Super Mario baddie is the most fun to defeat?
I love the shrivelling-up animation and the sound effect when you egg a Piranha Plant in Yoshi’s Island.

1) Have you ever been to a summer camp?
2) If you had to have a pet snake, what kind would it be?
3) What is your favourite novel series?
4) What two celebrities would make a great couple?
5) When is the last time you played a game?

3) What is your favourite novel series?
4) What two celebrities would make a great couple?
5) When is the last time you played a game?
1) Not like a Meatballs/Friday the 13th summer camp but I did go to a science camp at the university in middle school.
2) Python. Nice and big! Good for hugging. Like a big weighted blanket friend!
3) I wish I read more novels, let alone novel SERIES but I still have a soft spot for the Hitchhiker's Guide books.
4) Richard Kind and a smaller Richard Kind
5) Donkey Kong Bananza, yesterday.

1) Have you ever been to a summer camp?
Yes. I remember I built a miniature airplane
2) If you had to have a pet snake, what kind would it be?
A king cobra
3) What is your favourite novel series?
Rivers of London
4) What two celebrities would make a great couple?

5) When is the last time you played a game?
About 10 minutes ago (it was chess)

1) Have you ever been to a summer camp?
No.
2) If you had to have a pet snake, what kind would it be?
Non-poisonous.

Would prefer not to have one at all, though.

3) What is your favourite novel series?
Back to the Future.

4) What two celebrities would make a great couple?
I have NO idea.

5) When is the last time you played a game?
This morning.

1) When is the last time you've seen a reptile in person?
2) Pen or pencil?
3) Have you ever been to court?
4) What's the smallest town/city you've ever lived in?
5) Which is your favourite American Idol performance?

1) When is the last time you've seen a reptile in person?
At the Zoo
2) Pen or pencil?
Mechanical pencil
3) Have you ever been to court?
Yes. A classmate's brother and his friend mugged me trying to steal any graduation money I had ( just finished 8th grade). His friend's family literally flew him out of the country, visited relatives in Portugal, to try and avoid court. Dragged out the whole affair over three years.
4) What's the smallest town/city you've ever lived in?
Alameda, CA
5) Which is your favourite American Idol performance?
Never really watched the show.

1) When is the last time you've seen a reptile in person?

Long enough ago that I cannot recall.

2) Pen or pencil?
Pencil
3) Have you ever been to court?
Yes, but not as a participant.
4) What's the smallest town/city you've ever lived in?

I'd rather not say.
5) Which is your favourite American Idol performance?

I wish I could remember. I barely watched the show, but I was watching a Defunctland or something about the show, and seem to recall liking something I saw there.

I haven’t generally gotten around to this thread but had to pop in for #1 because

1) Literally looking at my bearded dragon right now.

2) I usually carry a pen in my pocket, but I have a handy pencil at my desk.
3) Just traffic court I think. Did a “prayer for judgement deferred” or whatever that is to basically do probation for rolling a stop sign and not ding my insurance.
4) Probably technically the one I’m in right now though it’s very close to several bigger towns and cities.
5) I’ve seen a few exceptional performances via web clips but I don’t really remember enough to say.

4) What's the smallest town/city you've ever lived in?
5) Which is your favourite American Idol performance?
1) Gosh, I can't remember but it is likely a turtle in the wild. I used to not realize we had turtles in this part of Canada and one day I was shocked to see a wild turtle on a sidewalk of a busy street! I thought it must be a poor abandoned pet and gave it to a nearby beauty parlor to take care of until animal control can look after it. It's possibly the people there were humouring me and jut put it outside after I left (this did happen not far from the river that divides the city). A few years after that I was on a bike ride when I saw another one in the backwoods. So maybe then, five years ago.
2) I use pens more but I love the feel of a pencil. Plus, you can erase it.
3) Yes, I taught ESL and my employer tried to bring me in as a partner. I wasn't well trained and he disappeared for 3 months so I really bungled helping send potential teachers to Korea. But he refused to pay me for teaching, which I did do. So I took him to court and got paid. After, I heard he was pretty abusive to a secretary who worked there, threatening not to help her with immigration or some such thing. So fuck that guy.
4) I think my hometown. I lived in a small city in China but really the center was pretty densely populated and there was lots of industrial places so I think it was technically smaller, even though my home city was a capital. There was also a small city in Japan but I think it is also slightly bigger.
5) I remember seeing one or two amazing performances independent of watching a full episode but I don't remember what they were. Like, maybe a really good Prince cover?

1) When is the last time you've seen a reptile in person?
The reptile in question would have been a small aquatic turtle. I honestly can’t remember if I saw any this fall in Lake Ontario or Grenadier Pond or someplace like that here in Toronto, or if my last turtle sighting would have been on the canal back in Jersey.

2) Pen or pencil?
I use whatever’s available, which is more often a pen. I like the erasability of pencils, so that I can correct my mistakes, but I find that graphite smears across notebook pages in a way that ink doesn’t.

3) Have you ever been to court?
A few years ago I got a summons for jury duty, and I was in court while I waited to tell the judge that I had a conference during the time the trial was scheduled, so could he please excuse me. I went to my conference.

4) What's the smallest town/city you've ever lived in?
Princeton, New Jersey, which has a population of about 30,000 people. It’s a weird place to live when you don’t have any connections to the university. Really good ice cream, though.

5) Which is your favourite American Idol performance?
Never seen one.

1) Which is your favourite PC game?
2) What song would be the best way to start a girl's night out?
3) What kind of innovation would you add to the fighting game genre, if you could?
4) When's the last time you talked to your mom?
5) Have you ever been to church?

4) When's the last time you talked to your mom?
5) Have you ever been to church?
1) Pretty much every non-Nintendo game is a PC game. I think there are better games but in terms of something that "FEELS" PC to me, I'll say FTL
2) Cherry Bomb by the Runaways
3) I think of anime and manga where a character can make a small move like a foot pivot to alter the nature of the attack. I can't imagine a non janky way to do this but something that really allows you to change angles subtly for punches and kicks.
4) 15 minutes ago. No mom, I'm not watching the Olympics.
5) Sure, I grew up with it. We stopped going by Jr. High (when we spent a year in Thailand) and I'm an atheist now but I take my mom every Christmas (she can't do Midnight Mass anymore so usually it's before or after Christmas eve dinner)

1.
With bony hands I hold my partner,
on soulless feet we cross the floor,
the music stops as if to answer,
an empty knocking at the door.
It seems his skin was sweet as mango,
when last I held him to my breast,
but now, we dance this grim fandango,
and will four years until we rest.

2. Dancin' In The Street
3. I would have liked a "No random challenger mode" for the arcade versions. Some of us are trying to learn the game, without your curbstomping BS, thenk yew
4. Just now. She's a bit cold.
5. More than enough. Catholic school would have a Mass for damn near everything.

1) Which is your favourite PC game?

That's a tough one. Probably Mega Man X DiVE -- at least, if I don't count games I have on other platforms.

2) What song would be the best way to start a girl's night out?

I have absolutely no idea. We talking a bunch of girls getting together to hang out? I think it would depend on the group.

3) What kind of innovation would you add to the fighting game genre, if you could?

Rubber-banding life meters. The less life you have and the more your opponent does, the more powerful your attacks, and vice-versa.

Well, that's something I would test, at any rate.

4) When's the last time you talked to your mom?

Sometime before April 2008.

5) Have you ever been to church?

Yep.

1) Which is your favourite PC game?
For years I played games primarily on PC, so this is a really hard one. Maybe Baldur’s Gate II, maybe Planescape: Torment, maybe Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri, maybe Riven.

2) What song would be the best way to start a girl's night out?
I’m not and have never been a girl, so I’m probably not the right person to be answering this question. Still, if the girls in question are willing to entertain a middle-aged dude’s suggestion, how about “Gimme Sympathy” by Metric?

3) What kind of innovation would you add to the fighting game genre, if you could?
I am a very very amateur fighting game appreciator, so I’m probably not the best person for this question, either. Maybe some kind of more involved training mode for learning tactics and combos?

4) When's the last time you talked to your mom?
I just checked, and it’s been about a month. We’ve been talking less since she moved to her retirement community—her social calendar is pretty full down there. Now I feel guilty, though.

5) Have you ever been to church?
I’ve been a regular churchgoer for most of my life. My wife and I stopped attending church in person when COVID hit, but we fell out of the habit of attending virtually, too. I think we’ve gone to our new church in Toronto every week since we found it in October, though.

The one about family and fast cars.

Things might start to improve.

Can't recall exactly. It's been a while.

4) If you could, would you have yourself be cryogenically frozen?

Probably not, unless the future starts to look particularly optimistic.

5) How do you dress for stormy weather?

Same as most other weather, but with a jacket.

5) How do you dress for stormy weather?
1) I only watched two of these so by process of elimination Fast & Furious (the fourth one)
2) If Last Man on Earth was right, a lot of meltdowns from unattended power plants...
3) I feel like it might have been a couple months ago but I don't remember where.
4) I don't know if anyone has actually survived that yet, so no.
5) I'm not great at dressing for strong weather. Usually what I'm wearing.

1) When is the last time you arm wrestled?
2) If you went on vacation to LA, where would you most want to go?
3) What is your favourite martial art?
4) What are you most likely to forget to turn off before you go to bed?

1) Which is your favourite Fast and Furious movie?
7 is probably where the series peaked
2) What would happen to the earth if humans just disappeared?
It would keep rolling along
3) When is the last time you've eaten duck?
It's been a long while. 10 years ago maybe?
4) If you could, would you have yourself be cryogenically frozen?
Nah
5) How do you dress for stormy weather?
Depends on how cold it is. Rubber boots are nice if it's not below freezing.

1) When is the last time you arm wrestled?
As a kid
2) If you went on vacation to LA, where would you most want to go?
Hollywood sign I guess?
3) What is your favourite martial art?
I used to do kendo back in the day, so that. Haaa-i!
4) What are you most likely to forget to turn off before you go to bed?
My intrusive thoughts
5) What toy do you own that you've had for the longest time?
A set of dice

1) When is the last time you arm wrestled?
I can’t remember. I must have been little.

2) If you went on vacation to LA, where would you most want to go?
My top priority would be to visit my friend who lives in Long Beach, but as far as the sights go, I didn’t get to the Getty the only time I’ve been there before, and I’d love to check that out.

3) What is your favourite martial art?
Taijiquan. I think practicing it would be good for my health, but I’ve had trouble finding a place where they do tai chi purely for exercise rather than as the basis for a whole philosophy of life. I’m not interested in “unblocking my qi,” thank you very much.

4) What are you most likely to forget to turn off before you go to bed?
Probably the lights in the main room of my apartment.

5) What toy do you own that you've had for the longest time?
I have a teddy bear that was given to me when I was still sleeping in a crib.

1) When is the last time you arm wrestled?

Good question!

2) If you went on vacation to LA, where would you most want to go?

Also a good question. Disneyland is near there, yeah? And Knott's Berry Farm? Maybe one of those.

3) What is your favourite martial art?

They're all pretty neat.

4) What are you most likely to forget to turn off before you go to bed?

Really not sure.

5) What toy do you own that you've had for the longest time?

Probably either my two remaining G1 Micromasters, Swindler and Mudslinger, or my Mario and Luigi plushes.

...I have more stuff at an aunt's house, assuming it's survived, so there would be older stuff there. But present and accounted for, I think it's those.

3) What is your favourite martial art?
4) What are you most likely to forget to turn off before you go to bed?
5) What toy do you own that you've had for the longest time?
1) A year or two ago. Mostly it was holding my arm in place for children and sometimes losing on purpose.
2) The Largo, to see a comedy show.
3) Drunken Boxing. Don't know how actually practical it is, but it looks fun.
4) TV. It's a smart TV so usually it turns itself off, but not always.
5) My teddy, HQ Bear.

1) What is your favourite Michael Crichton novel?
2) When is the last time you've worn a mask?
3) Which of your five senses do you most value?
4) Have you ever thrown a controller?
5) What is your gentleman/woman/person thief name?

1) What is your favourite Michael Crichton novel?
Jurassic Park, no question. I remember being excited that the book I had enjoyed so much was going to be adapted into a movie.

2) When is the last time you've worn a mask?
Yesterday, when I was on public transit.

3) Which of your five senses do you most value?
Ooof, this is hard. Sight is probably the one it would be hardest to lose, but not being able to hear music would be an awful wrench.

4) Have you ever thrown a controller?
Never. I hate breaking things too much.

5) What is your gentleman/woman/person thief name?
I think this calls for one of my favorite unplayed Pathfinder characters: Tierce Ricasso, gentleman, swashbuckler, diplomat, and occasional purloiner of valuable items when the need arises.
