A Questionnaire, Part II: The Questioning

1) What Smurf would you probably be?
Just one of the villagers
2) Does your city have a nice skyline?
Not particularly. There are few high-rise buildings (and no skyscrapers certainly), and while we're technically on the sea coast, there are lots of large islands and no good viewing point that would show you the city anyway.
3) How close is your family to you, in a geographical sense?
Some are closer, some are farther away. Everybody's within a half day's travel.
4) What holiday do you WISH you celebrated?
Retirement day, maybe?
5) What is your favourite licensed beat 'em up game?
Licensed? Hmm... can't say I've played many of those; let's go with NES TMNT.

3) I'm literally living in the same house as my parents. Just like nerds on the internet in media in the 90s!
4) Day of the Dead
5) I think there are better ones on an objective level but The Simpsons. It's a fun game but also a weird artifact from the early days of the show where it didn't have tons of characters to work with and included bosses like "wrestler who briefly appeared on TV in the Truckasaurus episode".

1) Which murder mystery has a really satisfying reveal?
2) Which rap song really captures what is happening now?
3) What room are you in now?
4) What stand up bit lives in your head forever?
5) Who is your favourite c-tier or lower DC Comics character?

1- Knives Out
2- Not really knowledgeable about that genre... "F*** The Police"?

3) Living room.
4) Not sure of a particular bit, but I listened to a bit of Jeff Foxworthy back in the day.
5) I dunno who qualifies here... Maxwell Lord, circa JLI era, maybe? Is Zatanna C or lower? I don't feel like she is, but she seems to wind up there a lot.

4) What stand up bit lives in your head forever?
5) Who is your favourite c-tier or lower DC Comics character?
1. Murder on the Orient Express
2. Fuck the Police, as mentioned, or if you are in the mood for the positive, Christmas in Hollis
3. Living Room/kitchen. It all kinda runs together.
4. Paul F. Tompkins Cake Vs. Pie
5. Night Girl
Love the beehive haircut and the super power with a fun drawback (she has monumental strength but only when she isn't touching sunlight. It you drop a tank on her it won't work because she is under the tank's shadow)

1. Have you gotten a Christmas gift yet and if so, what?
2. Jacob or Edward? Remember that? Remember when that was a question?
3. Where is the last time you've been in a business after closing time?
4. Who is your favourite rapper?
5. What's the last bird you've seen?

1. Have you gotten a Christmas gift yet and if so, what?
Movie tickets! That's always great.
2. Jacob or Edward? Remember that? Remember when that was a question?
I remember when that was a question, yes. I don't have an opinion myself.
3. Where is the last time you've been in a business after closing time?
I can't think of a single time, although surely it must have happened.
4. Who is your favourite rapper?
Tough one, and my opinion changes frequently. I'll go with Prodigy of Mobb Deep, he had an uncanny ability to rap without rhyming while seeming he did.
5. What's the last bird you've seen?
Probably some kind of sparrow, they're all around.

3. Where is the last time you've been in a business after closing time?

5. What's the last bird you've seen?

1) Nope! Did get a Festivus gift, though...
2) Yep!
3) Reply hazy, try again later.
4) I dunno. Currently? I guess Swerve Strickland or "Platinum" Max Caster. All time? Maaaaaaaaaaaybe Will Smith. Really liked his stuff when I was younger, but some of it kinda hits different now, y'know?
5) I have no idea. Being at home sick for the last week probably hasn't helped there. Had a turkey sandwich or two, do those count?

5. What's the last bird you've seen?
1. A lot of parents give gift cards and mugs (note, if you are getting into education, get ready for a lot of mugs). Also, a bookmark carved of wood, which is pretty cool.
2. They both suck. But Edward is the lesser of two evils.
3. I work and have to close up a preschool often. And sometimes I go in for the weekend when I need to pick up something I forgot.
4. This is hard. I like wrap but I'm not really a "wrap" guy. But I do have two Kendrick Lamar albums and I like the way he's going after Drake so him.
5. Cardinal. Beautiful birds.

1) What time is it?
2) Do you like milk?
3) What is your favourite planet in our solar system?
4) What kind of shoes do you wear?
5) When is the last time you used a land line?

1) What time is it?
Now. It’s always now, though every now is different.

2) Do you like milk?
I’ll sometimes drink a glass of milk to go with a really rich chocolate dessert. Otherwise, it’s a good ingredient in other things. I used to drink milk all the time when I was a kid.

3) What is your favourite planet in our solar system?
Earth is kind of a gimme, so I’ll say that my second favorite one to actually walk around on would be Mars, and my second favorite to look at pictures of is Neptune.

4) What kind of shoes do you wear?
These days I’m mostly wearing my winter boots, because my sneakers don’t have much tread. I usually have a pair of leather shoes that are kind of a midpoint between the two, but my most recent pair fell apart, and I haven’t replaced it yet.

5) When is the last time you used a land line?
Gosh, that’s a good question. I’m sorry for the boring answer, but I honestly can’t remember.

1) 11:35am EST on Monday, January 5th, 2026
2) Yes
3) Probably Earth.
4) Old, worn out Dr. Scholl's sneakers, because I like the color and still haven't found a good replacement yet.
5) I honestly don't know.

3) What is your favourite planet in our solar system?
4) What kind of shoes do you wear?
5) When is the last time you used a land line?
1) 2:13 PM
2) Not on it's own but with a cookie/cake or in cereal, yes.
3) Earth. Guys, we only have one Earth!
4) Sneakers most of the time. Often Nikes but really I'll just get whatever fits my big feet (and big orthodics)
5) When I first moved into my apartment, then realized I don't need it with a cell.

1) When is the last time you've been on any form of boat?
2) What is your favourite Godzilla movie?
3) What is the last comic book you've read?
4) Are you afraid of spiders?
5) What modern day actor would have been a great guest villain in the 1960s Batman series?

1) When is the last time you've been on any form of boat?
I think it was the last time I was at Bargemusic, Brooklyn’s late, lamented chamber music venue aboard an old coffee barge docked near the Brooklyn Bridge.

2) What is your favourite Godzilla movie?
I haven’t seen all that many, I admit, but of the ones I’ve seen, I like Shin Godzilla best.

3) What is the last comic book you've read?
That would have been my reread of the Scott Pilgrim books back in the fall. It was cool to see how many place names I recognized now that I’ve spent some time in Toronto!

4) Are you afraid of spiders?
Definitely. It’s gotten better over the years—these days I can watch little jumping spiders with fascination—but my fear still grows in proportion to the size of the spider. I would run out of a room that had a tarantula loose in it.

5) What modern day actor would have been a great guest villain in the 1960s Batman series?
The first person who comes to mind is Giancarlo Esposito. He can do threatening, but he can also do kind of goofy.

3) What is the last comic book you've read?
4) Are you afraid of spiders?
5) What modern day actor would have been a great guest villain in the 1960s Batman series?
1) Gosh, this is a hard one. It has been a long time for sure. I feel like it was some sort of relatively local small boat for touring but specifics elude me.
2) I haven't seen most of the newer ones so I'll go with the original Gojira, which actually makes Godzilla scary and the events really sad.
3) Currently reading Incredible Science Fantasy. Great Silver Age comics.
4) Not really, but if I see one where I don't expect it, I will jump.
5) John Cena as 1960s Bane

1) When is the last time you've been on any form of boat?
Last summer
2) What is your favourite Godzilla movie?
Might be recency bias but Minus One was really good. Of the older ones, maybe vs Mechagodzilla
3) What is the last comic book you've read?
Planet Hulk
4) Are you afraid of spiders?
Moderately?
5) What modern day actor would have been a great guest villain in the 1960s Batman series?
Jon Hamm could be two-face

1) When is the last time you've been on any form of boat?

I don't remember the last time, it's been a few years, at least, but we occasionally take a ferry out to the islands when the weather is nice.

2) What is your favourite Godzilla movie?

I don't really have a favorite. Don't mistake that for me not liking Godzilla, but of the ones I've seen, it's a tough pick.

Maybe the original?

3) What is the last comic book you've read?

Oh, that's tough. I read so many, sometimes in bits and pieces, admittedly.

Might have been one of the Mega Man X ones? Or ZX Timelines?

Actually, I think it was Sonic/DC #... 3?

4) Are you afraid of spiders?

I prefer them not to be near me. Otherwise, I'm fine with them.

5) What modern day actor would have been a great guest villain in the 1960s Batman series?

Keanu Reeves.

1) What is your favourite western TV series?
2) Have you ever seen a shark in person?
3) What is the last bar you've been to?
4) If they had to remake Casablanca, who do you think should direct?
5) Which Super Mario baddie is the most fun to defeat?

3) What is the last bar you've been to?
4) If they had to remake Casablanca, who do you think should direct?
5) Which Super Mario baddie is the most fun to defeat?
1) Deadwood
2) I think at an aquarium. I vaguely remember touching shark-skin, too but I don't remember if it was an alive or dead shark (it was a small one)
3) I don't remember. I don't drink and if I go to a bar, it is a bar that has good food. I remember a decade ago going to a bar for a trivia night but it was a lonely experience.
4) I'm not the biggest Steven Soderberg fan but he is good at genre pictures and though Casablanca is not a heist movie, I think there are elements from working on heist movies that would help make this work.
5) In Super Mario World, I do like knocking koopas out of their shells and hittin' them with their own shells.

1) What is your favourite western TV series?

I don't like to pick favorites, but I'll say "Garfield and Friends".

2) Have you ever seen a shark in person?

I think so? I've been to a good few aquariums, I feel like I've surely seen a shark in at least ONE of them.

3) What is the last bar you've been to?

As I'm not a person who tends to drink, I do not recall.

Ironic. I thought it was usually the other way around.

4) If they had to remake Casablanca, who do you think should direct?

Travis Knight.

5) Which Super Mario baddie is the most fun to defeat?

I'll say Wario in Super Mario Land 2. I always love a good mirror-styled match against a rival, especially one who's not an exact mirror image, but their own character, and Wario brings that in spades.

1) What is your favourite western TV series?
Poker Face (yes, it's a Columbo, but it's also a Western)
2) Have you ever seen a shark in person?
I think there was one at the Sydney aquarium. I have also eaten shark.
3) What is the last bar you've been to?
Tårget
4) If they had to remake Casablanca, who do you think should direct?
Dave Filoni (it should be a Star Wars adaptation)
5) Which Super Mario baddie is the most fun to defeat?
Lemmy Koopa
