Kirby and the Forgotten Land

Yeah, it looks like a Kirby riff on 3D World, which seems ideal to me. And it comes out five days before my birthday!

I really want more info on co-op. Is it just Waddle Dee? Can player two be another Kirby?

It strikes me as doing similar things to the Kirby series as Odyssey and BotW did for their respective IPs, even if it's not mechanically as close to them as it seemed earlier. Considering how well those worked out, I continue to be excited for this one!

This looks pretty fun. It will be interesting to see what kind of daylight there is between this and Mario Odyssey since Mario's already taken the whole "captures enemy powers" thing into this kind of game. And honestly? Even if there's not much, Odyssey was such a great game it's hard to be mad if this is just that but with Kirby this time.

Also, the middle part of the trailer music sounds so close to the Perfect Strangers theme song. I need a Balki DLC for this.

I was incredibly upset with the first trailer - it looked like a limp, lousy fixing of something that wasn't broken. Don't get me wrong, I knew it wouldn't be bad, but I just couldn't get excited about the 3Difying of my favourite reliable 2D game.

The trailer that dropped yesterday, though? Total 180. It now looks vital, gorgeous and most importantly brilliant fun.

I don't know shit about Kirby - Epic Yarn is the only game I remember playing, and maybe 10 minutes of it - but I'm totally picking this up.

It was me. I forgot it. I'm grateful they're reminding me.

The 2D games will almost certainly come back. Kirby oscillates pretty reliably between formulaic and experimental.

I'm definitely intrigued by KirbY: Automata, but I'll probably wait for opinions to drop first before buying.

This looks so, so great, and I really need a Switch at some point, to get all these amazing games that I never got to pick up. Oh my god, that trailer made me excited and nostalgic at the same time (yeah, I just watched it now, the one in the first post). This might sound really weird, but it reminds me of Bomberman 64, I game I love and have a ton of nostalgia for. Dunno, like what you might get if you developed semi-linear 3D levels up to today. Which this is, whatever, I'm excited. What a lovely, beautiful-looking world.

The Katamari mode just slays me. Tasmanian Devil whirlwind is pretty great too.

Oh, thank goodness! I've learned to live with the whole "B and A are the primary buttons, no matter the controller layout" thing, just because Nintendo has mandated it so often, but it's so nice to see the correct way be optional.

Heck, almost as frustrating as when prior games have forced "Type A" is the subset of fans who are like, "what's wrong? B is attack/run and A is jump. Been that way since the NES." As if the names of the buttons somehow took priority over the layout, and also as if the SNES never existed. It's not nearly as big a deal as this post may imply, but I feel like I've vanished into a twilight zone in multiple discussions I've had over Nintendo controls.

This info is the difference between me not caring about this game at all to me downloading the demo to give it a shot. This could have happened many, many games ago Nintendo.

Game feels like where they cordoned off the design philosophy of the 2D style 3D Marios (3D Land and World) primarily, but with the addition of Kirby design sensibilities. Fun and honestly feels more fitting here.
