A Questionnaire, Part II: The Questioning

Torzelbaum

????? LV 13 HP 292/ 292
(he, him, his)
1. Do you have any plans for Christmas?
2. Do you own a smart phone?
3. What's your favourite chain pizza place?
4. If you had a sword designed for you, what would you name it?
5. Which celebrity couple are you rooting for?
  1. No
  2. Yes
  3. It's a tie between Monical's, Little Caesars and Giordano's
  4. I would get a Falchion and call it Captain Falchion. It would be designed with a basket hilt so I can use it to perform a Falchion Punch.
  5. Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick - I think they can go the distance.

I think Hoc in muro suspendam modo would be right. If you wanted a single word, suspendendum would mean “thing that is to be hung up.”

(Edited because I botched the gerundive the first time.)
Nice, thanks! And yeah, I was thinking gerund but wasn't sure enough of the structure.

2. Do you own a smart phone?
3. What's your favourite chain pizza place?
4. If you had a sword designed for you, what would you name it?
5. Which celebrity couple are you rooting for?
1. Hopefully heading up North for a family Christmas. But that's been scuttled for the last two or three years due to colds and my dad being super vulnerable to colds.
2. Yep. I need to get it too stop telling me I spend too much time looking at it.
3. This is tough. I have a love hate with Pizza Hut. I don't eat often but I alternate between "delicious" and "too fucking greasy" every time I eat there. That said, Canadian chain Pizza Twice is pretty good. Not to be confused with Pizza Pizza, which I also really like (and is not related to Little Caesar's.
4. Insecurity splitter
5. Hunter X Hunter guy and Sailor Moon lady

1. When's the last time you made a snowman
2. Which is your favourite Universal monster movie?
3. Are you good at keeping secrets?
4. What movie do you want an in-name-only sequel, almost unrelated to the original except maybe themes and title?
5. What city outside your own country that you've only been to once would you like to return to?

Octopus Prime

Mysterious Contraption
(He/Him)
1. Last time I had to give Mr. Policeman all the clues
2. Gonna have to give it to the original Frankenstein. Bride of is a *very* close second
3. You tell me…
4. First-thought, Best-thought; Prince of Darkness
5. Orlando Florida; I likes me a themepark

4. What movie do you want an in-name-only sequel, almost unrelated to the original except maybe themes and title?
5. What city outside your own country that you've only been to once would you like to return to?
1. Probably with some of the preschoolers last winter.
2. I really like the Black Cat but while it's a Universal horror, there's no literal monsters. I'm going with Frankenstein.
3. I can but I don't like it. Unless it's a fun secret I'll share later, then I'm bursting with excitement.
4. First-thought, Best-thought; Prince of Darkness
4. Good choice. Mine is also a horror movie; Friday the 13th. Impossible to ask for because the iconography of Jason is too strong (I actually think they are all kind of bad but all mostly watchable and Jason makes for a slasher villain I have affection for. But I want another "and then there were none" mystery with a nice outdoorsy summery/autumnal setting (I know it's set during the summer but that film always felt like early fall to me). There were lots of rip-offs that fit the bill but Friday had a good look to it and those Savini effects.
5. Tough. I've done a lot of travelling. I feel most of the places that I have an emotional connection to would no longer have what made that connection have for me. I'm going to say either Seoul or Tokyo, but there's an embarrassment of good choices.

1) Too long ago.
2) The one where the guy with the whip kills them all.
3) Possibly to my detriment.
4) Wow, nooooooo idea. True Lies, maybe? Or Demolition Man?
5) Crap, that's a small list. That city I went to in Germany for business might be nice, but I wish I could remember which one it was offhand...

1) Mega Man
2) Avengers Campus
3) I'm going to have to think on that one.
4) I dunno... I feel like I've done the ones I want to, and those I haven't were for good reason.
5) Odd snacks under a box propped up by a stick with a string tied around it.

1. Who is your favourite mythical hero?
King Arthur, no contest.

2. If you went to Disneyworld and could only see one attraction, what would it be?
I’ve always been an EPCOT kind of owl.

3. What movie would make a better video game?
Any of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies after the first one.

4. What summer-time activity that you've never done would you like to do?
Playing Subnautica made me want to try SCUBA diving, but I’m probably not a strong enough swimmer for that.

5. If you were going to trap me, how would you do it?
“Hey, Johnny U, I’ve got an idea for a new forum game! It’s right over here, on top of this not-at-all-suspicious circle of leaves and branches!”

1. This is tough. Maybe Thor after reading Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman. Read those old stories and you realize prior to ragnarok, it's full of weird dark comedy and Taika Waititi's very goofy take actually goes closer to the old school stuff.
2. Tough. You know, as I kid I wanted to go to Disney World mostly because everyone else seemed to get to go but I was never much of a Disney kid. Probably the Haunted Mansion. It sounds fun and I feel like it gets referenced a lot on Threedom.
3. Something that was created as mythology heavy but kind of became a mixed up mess in practice. I guess the last Tron, which isn't awful but clearly wanted to set up sequels that didn't happen. Yeah, they made a few Tron games but I feel a really good one should feel like a larger, wilder series of genres all together. Or Jupiter Ascending.
4. Water-skiing.
5. It's called my life, Stefan. And you are already in it.
Playing Subnautica made me want to try SCUBA diving, but I’m probably not a strong enough swimmer for that.
I don't think you need to be that strong. I did it in the early 2000s in the Great Barrier reef. It wasn't real deep or anything. But the sensation might make you panic. My mom did for a little bit early on. But we also got to pet a sunfish. These dudes are awesome.

1. Jon Lovitz. I think the closest he got was The Critic, but I always felt he could do more.
2. Doctor Emmet "Doc" Brown & Dr. Jillian "Holtz" Holtzmann. Science shenanigans!
3. Molly Ringwald. I've always been weak for redheads.
4. Dune ;)
5. Hm... This one via a store demo kiosk;

1. Which comedic actor do you feel never got the roles to really let them do their best work?
For twenty years now, I've thought Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd deserved a buddy comedy movie together. I'm still waiting for that movie.

2. If you could team up two movie characters from different genres, who would they be?
Sherlock Holmes and Will Hunting would irritate each other so much, but I think it would be good for both of them.

3. Who was your first celebrity crush
Jodie Foster.

4. What are the best movies that aren't related but have the same title?

I'm not sure I can think of any, I'm afraid.

5. What was the last VR game you've played?

The last and so far only VR game I've played was some kind of Star Wars lightsaber training thing that the son of a friend of mine showed me. I'm afraid I don't know the exact title.

1. I almost want to say John Candy because while he's recognized as great, I feel only one movie really took full advantage of all his abilities. But that movie, Planes, Trains and Automobiles, does exist. So I'm going to say Joe Flaherty.
2. Peter Venkman and the Man with No Name
3. Miss Piggy
4. I haven't seen either but I hear the two The Gifts are both pretty good thrillers.
5. Something where you solve puzzles on an island. Not Myst, a lot easier.

1.) Who’s your favorite video game villain?

2.) What song has a really great bass line?

3.) How do you feel about snow?

4.) If you were going to have a birthday cake, what kind of cake would you want it to be?

5.) What’s a smell that you really like?

1. Boring answers but Glaados or Kefka. Kefka is just the fucking worse. It's perfect.

2. Black Bass by Shonen Knife. Some great lyrics about bass.

3. I love it but I get the people who don't. My dad has mobility issues so it can be a big problem for him.

4. Believe it or not I HAVE had a birthday cake. But my preferred form? That's tough. My dad used to get this chocolate cake with a coconut frosting and I wish I could try that again.

5. Freshly mowed lawn. Banana bread. The last Judge John Hodgman was shit talking banana bread and nope, not having it.

1. narrowing it down is hard… Might have to go basic and say Bowser.

2. Honestly, can’t say the baseline is something I tend to notice in music… umm… The Seinfeld theme?

3. it’s acceptable for the week before Christmas and at no other times in the calender year

4. Birthday, obviously.

5. Outside of the obvious answers (your pine trees, baked bread and the like), I’ve always found wet dog smell to be weirdly comforting.

3) Looking at/watching: Love. Being anywhere near: Hate.

5) Good question. My nose is so clogged half the time, I feel like I take what I can get.

4. What internet rabbit hole have you fallen into recently?
5. Which is your favourite SNL cast member in the era you were watching it?

1. What did you do yesterday? It was the monthly free household waste disposal day at the dump so we got rid of a ton of old stuff including all our hold swirly florescent lights. Then we went to one of my favourite breweries because I just learned they were doing a Japanese Sando and Onigiri popup. The shokupan was homemade and a little dry but still good. The onigiri were fantastic. Then a single level of RingFit since I was pretty tired from all that.
2. What did you do today? Answering this in the morning, but work stuff. Might do some stationary biking this evening if my hip feels up to it, if not just my PT exercises. After work I want to beat Fire Emblem Engage.
3. What will you do tomorrow? Potentially be part of a client audit, more work stuff.
4. What internet rabbit hole have you fallen into recently? I'm proud to say I've broken the habit of this on my personal time. I do still go down rabbit holes for stuff at work, but at least then I can pretend it's legitimate research. My most recent ones was researching kosher grades of TPGS (Vitamin E), because since it's plant based I was surprised kosher and non-kosher versions existed as that manufacturing equipment shouldn't touch meat or anything. Never got a really clear answer but looks like certain oils can be derived in less traceable ways and can't be certified kosher.
5. Which is your favourite SNL cast member in the era you were watching it? I never watched it consistently, but Steve Martin and Tina Fey are the first to pop into my head.

1. School work
2. School work and regular work
3. Regular work (10 hour shift)
4. I remember I did one on Ray Jay Johnston when all the Simpsons memes started dropping.
5. Mike Myers was my guy at the time. I can't put my finger on why but his sense of humour spoke to me. Though weirdly, it usually wasn't the big sketches that were my favourite but some of the lesser known ones.

Steve Martin and Tina Fey are the first to pop into my head.
Martin was a very frequent guest but he was never actually a cast member.

1. If you had a ventriloquist dummy, what would you name it?
Cormac McCarthy.

2. Which Looney Tune cartoon is your favourite?
It’s hard to beat “Duck Amuck,” but I also love the Road Runner and Coyote cartoons so very much. “Zip Zip Hooray” does a great job at playing with their format and conventions.

3. When's the last time you kissed someone or something?
That reminds me—I haven’t kissed my wife yet this morning. Let me go fix that.

OK. Done. The last time I kissed someone is just a minute ago.

4. What is your vampire defense plan?
I already eat an absolute ton of garlic, so that’s step 1 taken care of, at least. Probably the next part would be to find a couple of sticks to cross and recite some psalms.

5. Have you ever been to the Great Wall of China?
No, but it would be fun to go! I wish I knew when it would feel safe for me to get on a plane again.

1) HoJu.
2) I'm... not even sure. It's been so long since I've really watched them (and remember when TNT showed like two or three hours of old cartoons before 8pm every weeknight? That used to be destination viewing for me).

Without a refresher, I'm going to say that Daffy Duck as Robin Hood and Bugs Bunny on Mars still stand out to me. The latter for a more personal reason...

3) This morning.

4) 1-877-CALL-BLADE

5) Does Bart vs The World count? Don't think I ever cleared it, though.
