The Trailer Thread - Room with a Preview

This reminds me that I missed the 1 hour long $25 ticket window for Weird Al's concert in my town this summer. Now they're all $100+ each! Ugh.

You folks know the movie is basically an extension of that old Funny Or Die sketch, right?

Because he's a 40s and 50s horror and sci-fi nerd and no one else gives a shit about the IP.

And it certainly contains no references or nods to any previous genre media.

Also one of Rob Zombie's most famous songs is Dragula.

The point I'm trying to make is that it's weird to me that Rob Zombie, noted director of gory horror movies, is making a movie based on a relatively tame sitcom that just happened to feature a monster family who wanted to live normal lives.

Can we at least all agree that the Munsters theme song is still a fucking banger though?

(He/Him)
Not unheard of. Eli Roth did a spooky family adventure film a couple years ago and Takahashi Miike has been a journeyman on various random projects like film versions of kids tokusatsu series.

If you want to go in knowing nothing, probably don't watch this one. I guess I was expecting it to be a bit cagier in marketing and what kind of threat it is (although I imagine there's a lot it's not telling us). So if you don't want to watch it and go in as cold as possible, I'll give you some vague points of interest:
Keith David!
The Akira slide!
A film that, to a certain extent, seeming to be about film (and the act of watching). And frankly, it looks like completely thrilling fun. I am hyped for this and am bummed I probably won't be comfortable going to the theatre yet in a couple months because... LOOKS GOOD!

Why yes I do want to see a bunch of wild volcano footage from a scientist couple (although the woman was the main scientist I believe) who died doing what they loved. I have definitely read about the Kraffts in passing but didn't know that much.

Apparently it's only in theaters right now but should start streaming in August.

There's a full trailer for the Munsters movie now. I don't want to poison the well for anybody, but I'm not excited about this one.

I'm not even talking about the sets or make up. That's fine. The film's look in terms of camera quality and ADR looks and sounds very The Asylum.

Rascally Badger

El Capitan de la outro espacio
(He/Him)
I know people who are fans of Rob Zombie's film work and I am glad they enjoy it, but there is nothing in any second I've seen of his movies that made me want to see any more. The Munsters does not seem that changing that.

Fearful asymmetry
Watching the Dungeons and Dragons trailer makes me think Hasbro turned to Paramount and said, "You know those Avengers movies, with the snarky dialog and the big-budget special effects? Make one of those, but with our characters in it."

Am I the only one who thinks the movie looks very bad for this exact reason? Like, it feels extremely weird that all the characters speak contemporary English. I don't want D&D pretending to be directed by Taika Waititi. I feel like everyone on the internet is losing their shit over this trailer and I just don't get it.
