Default We're playing Suikoden II? Hooray!

Looks like somebody's happy about it!

That's right, it's time for Suikoden II. Released in 1999 and very much an accidental sequel, Suikoden II ties to the first much more closely than any of the ones that follow. Set three years after the end of the first game, it follows events to the north of the Scarlet Moon Empire, in the City States of Jowston and the Kingdom of Highland. This region, included as a throw-away name to keep Teo busy while his son was causing trouble, gets fully fleshed out. Expect to see a LOT of returning faces, and a LOT of story threads to be picked up and fleshed out in later games. I've gotta wait for Brick's memory card to arrive so I can carry on the story of ○cDohl (that's right), but we can get things rolling in the mean time.

This is our young, mute protagonist, and he needs a name. I'm afraid to ask you guys what random gibberish I'm gonna have to type out for the next several months, but I guess tradition is tradition. So, what's it gonna be?

You are contractually obligated to complete both Clive and Hai Yo's subplots.

Does "○✗∆□☆" have anything considered a capital letter in it? Who knows! I'm pretty excited to find out, though.

Hai Yo: Yes

For Clive: Just stop at the point where he gets shot like a punk. That's as far as I got in my playthrough of this game, and it felt like a fitting ending.

I also don't see how you could much farther into it than that without rushing through the start of the game, which would make you speed through the game and not show us the cool stuff.

I'm a hater though, so what do I know.

I think the best way to handle the Clive subplot might be to actually have a concurrent playthrough solely for the purpose of getting all those scenes. Maybe someone else could do that, if it's too much work.

I have a plan for dealing with the Clive quest, as well as the issue of the "real ending" versus the happy sunshine kittens ending that we'll get to eventually. As for Hai Yo, I wouldn't do it any other way.

Oh, and we've got 8 spaces for the name.

I named my Suiko2 Hero in my most recent game "Tomato"

My Suiko1 Hero was "Potato"

My Flame Champion is "Cashew"

Oh and you have to get the Teen Squirrel Squad. Yes I went there and yes they have to be in the Hero's party when he goes up against Luca

I sort of want the hero to have a really dull name, to contrast with the Toran region's naming practices. He's the hero so maybe we'll just call him Heero. (Or Hiro. Though the idea of such a sweet-faced little boy saying "I will destroy kill you" appeals to me.)

We already had ○✗∆□☆, so how about ☆□∆✗○? We could refer to him as "Strixo" once and then never refer to him as that again.

Hey hey that's not how it's done around here! None of that "always" crap allowed! There will be a constant stream of new and impractical characters shuffling through the party and that's that!

I don't remember what I named my hero, but my castle was Fucknut Castle.

Trick to the Clive subquest: if you save your game, then play for six hours, then DIE, you retain all the levels you gained without actually adding anything to the clock. So you can use the Matilda glitch to raise everyone to like L40, then kill yourself, and it's like free levels being handed to you.

Or the gameshark thing, that works too!

Hero name: BobDole.
