Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X 2 is a 2010 flight simulator developed for seventh-generation consoles by Ubisoft SRL (Blazing Angels, pod SpeedZone) and published by Ubisoft Entertainment SA (Uru: Ages Beyond Myst, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear: Black Thorn) eighteen months following the release of the original Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. In it, players assume the roles of multiple members of the eponymous High Altitude Warfare eXperimental squadron as they investigate the disappearance of several missing warheads somewhere in the Middle East.

DISCLAIMER: If you're looking for a serious Let's Play of this mediocre air-combat console game, this video series may not be for you! This playthrough was carried out blindly by three snowed-in comrades and recorded live; we talked over most of the cutscenes and mid-mission dialogue, and we died a lot.

Today's video is about barely managing to get off the runway and then flying around in circles until something happens. How appropriate!

In other words it's MY FAVORITE KIND OF LP!

This started out pretty damn good! Looking forward to more.

I actually used to figure that the SA types demanded more serious professionalism in LPs. Now I know that the exact opposite also makes for a good LP.

Do you mean when 2/3rds of the players exploded while still on the runway? (Honestly one of the funniest things I've ever seen.)

I didn't even realize they made joysticks for the PS3!

I'm not sure why H.A.W.X 2 decided to save its tutorial for the second mission, but here you go. Happy Easter!


Yep! There's a reason this LP's getting posted here and not over there.

It's true! The Thrustmaster T-Flight Stick X is PC-PS3 cross-compatible; that's the one Taxus has. Unfortunately, the PC stick just has all the buttons labeled as numbers, and there's no easy way to tell what you're actually supposed to press when the game tells you to "press X," for instance.

In today's video, we pilot unmanned vehicles in order to move the story along! Seriously, today's video is basically just an interactive cutscene -- I'll probably throw the next one up tomorrow.

This game is certainly putting it's best feet forward!

Also, 400 people on a base that has at least 30 planes is actually not very many personnel. That whole base probably had at least 2000.

I did the math and we spend about five minutes of this video actually shooting at enemy planes, and the rest of it listening to radio chatter or trying to refuel.

It can only get better from here!

I'm PRETTY SURE Taxus' friend was either trained wrong as a joke, or the instructor misunderstood the law.

And knowing military instructors, I don't know which is more likely...

Man, remember the time that one modern-military video game had you operate the turrets of a C-130 gunship in order to "bring the rain?"

Wow, this really IS just Call of Duty: Modern Aircraft.

In today's video, the Marine commander reports to Searider that he's lost too many men to continue, so Viper Two-one has to abort the attack.

I could see myself stopping the game after my third attempt on a mission like this. Good on you guys for sticking to the end!

Today's video is another interactive cutscene brought to you by the color green! The secret password is "beacon."


Tolerating mediocre Ubisoft modern-military console games is my gift and my curse.

It's another green-out mission! In today's video, Phenwah brings the rain, Lobst gets bombarded by enemy fire, and Taxus has trouble landing on a carrier.

It's another attack-and-defend mission, this time somewhere in the middle east! UAV ON-LINE.

I have a deep, abiding, and possibly unhealthy love for shooting gallery games, so while I recognize that HAWX 2 isn't a good game, I can't help but enjoy the time I spent with it.

In today's mission, Taxus refuses to turn on his night-vision goggles and nobody in H.A.W.X Squadron knows how to land a plane.

That is some skillful landing.

And some questionable death zones.

Damn, I'm getting some second-hand frustration watching the bullshit involved in the landing process, haha. Being teleported up because another player landed into me would do my head in the fifth or sixth time it happened!

Today's mission is to attack enemy planes while defending friendly targets, and return home safely once the job is done.


Yeah, it's really ambiguous as to what's "runway" and what's "hot lava."

I think, if you're completely stationary, other players bonking into you respawn and you remain stationary, but if you're taxiing it still counts as moving. At least it doesn't kill us instantly!

Today's video starts with a whole lot of front-loading about some B-plot that will inevitably intersect with the game we've been experiencing up to this point. I guess the Russians have a H.A.W.X force now, too!

Things take a turn for the worse in today's video and we're forced to make a difficult choice! At least we don't have to land, though.

Can you handle the explosive interactive cutscene in today's UAV mission? I don't think you can!

Today's mission is simple: take off fast!
