Just a note in case I forgot before: If you take a neutral spellbook, you cannot get all your faction spellbooks (unless you get Recriminations and swap one out).

Since we're coming up on the first Doom Phase I refreshed myself of the neutral monster rules. I was wrong about one thing before: You DON'T lose control of them if you lose them all; you keep a neutral monster throughout the entire game. You DO lose control of neutral GOOs if you lose them.
To take a neutral monster, lower your Doom by 2 points when it's your turn to Ritual, before or after you perform the ritual. That gives you one neutral monster of the kind you choose; you can summon the rest for power as usual later. Also, there are 4 Moonbeasts, not 3. I'll fix that on my next turn if no one else has by then. |

Yeah, you can't if you don't have the Doom.
For my part, I'm going to decline the Ritual, and spend my Doom on the Servitors of the Outer Gods. The poor sap who's saddled with these mindless piping flautists is Sleeper. You get one for free, lucky you. They count for -1 to your combat rating when they're in battle, and you can't summon any other monsters unless you have all three in play. Alright I'm gonna use my From The Depths to get another servitor, since I assume that's my only option, then I'm going to ritual for 2 doom and the Cursed Slumber spell book.
Power:5 Doom:4 Then I'm gonna pay 2 doom for Dimensional Shamblers and put one on my card. I think that's all legal? |

You have to put them with a gate like normal monsters, but you should be able to call in a Wizard if you prefer, since Death From Below is not summoning per se, but placing, and the two monsters cost the same amount.
We're not playing with Dimensional Shamblers, though; we have Star Vampires, Moonbeasts and Leng Spiders. |
