Default Let's Break Super Metroid!

Super Metroid, widely considered to be one of the greatest games of all time (or at least, according to you guys), probably needs no introduction around these parts (cf. the previous set of parentheses). Now seeing as how I'm sure you guys have already played this a ton, the focus of this LP (as the title suggests) will be (sequence) breaking the living heck out of this game. I sure that even if you've played this game a ton, you will see many things that will awestrike, bewilder, and possibly even horrify you.*

Sadly, this means that if you have not play Super Metroid yet, this LP will make absolutely no sense. But have no fear! There's still a million ways to experience this game. You could buy a cartridge (if you have a SNES), buy it for the Wii Virtual Console (if you have 800 spacebux), or even download it at you local romsite (if you lack money/moral-fiber).

Alternatively, if playing games is somehow beyond your means, you could just view a prior Let's Play of this game. For instance, our very own Brickroad did a stellar video LP a while ago. He even played it at 143% speed for all of you folks back at home with busy schedules! If for some reason you hold a personal grudge against Brickroad (for shame), there are still other alternative LPs! You can find them on Google.

(Alternatively alternatively, you could just not read this LP, but what fun would that be?)

So, I hope you guys enjoy this LP! even though it's my freshman effort (ohmanpleasepleasedon'tscrewup)

*Possible exceptions: VorpalEdge, Kejardon, Brickroad

Well, I've seen some pretty horrifying Super Metroid tricks before. (It's known, for instance, that it's theoretically possible to skip the mini-boss after gaining the morph ball bombs even on the NTSC version, although as far as I know it's only ever been done on an emulator with frame advance, or on the PAL version where it's much easier.) Still, I'm looking forward to see which set of tricks you decide to pull on this run.

There's something great about a game where you can do all sorts of interesting sequence breaks, and yet they still don't completely break the game, just make it more interesting.

I've made stop and go attempts at a reverse boss run over the years, but never really made it past Ridley (and I think I only got to him once). This should be fun to watch.

Still going to be interesting to watch though

ok, so i watched all of brick's video LP. my request? don't do what he did. play the whole game without skipping or sequence breaking, and show me the mechanics evolve. watching his LP was cool, but didn't tell me any of the basics of the game, choosing instead to drown me in metroid babble.

You could try mapping run to L instead of Aim Down, maybe? Aim Down is useless 99% of the time. Don't be afraid to take the game slowly if you're tripping up on the controls either. There's more functions than a typical platformer and the game rewards slow exploration anyways.

/me watches the intro vid

Oh wow, a death to Ridley on Ceres. That's something I never tried doing before. If that fight makes no sense to you, remember that the fight ends either when Ridley gets shot 100 times, or your health is at 29 or below. So what he did was get pretty close to the 100 shot limit, because he could, and then get hit a bunch. Instead of ending the fight normally once he dropped below 29, he got to 30, took 15 damage, and then had Ridley's position low enough to allow him to take an extra 15 and die. Pretty neat.

shivam, I am good at exactly three things in life: cheeseburgers, sex, and Super Metroid. Since you're a vegetarian, I suggest you learn to love the Metroid babble, or our friendship is about to get real awkward.

Ooooohohoho, it's funny because he's not gay! See, he implies that they are going to have gay sex even though they aren't gay!

Unless I'm missing something, that's the only death screen.

I like your interpretation here. Makes me seem less illiterate.

I really did think it was a unique death screen. I guess I've never actually read those words. To be honest, my motivations for digging deeper into the planet have been always been looking for fun and adventure rather than finding the metroid larva. I guess this makes me a bad person.

Wait, I'm going back to CS's statement. I'm the best, around.

As someone who has seen Brickroad's LP, countless TAS videos on the game, and ain't too shabby at it himself, I'm STILL interested in this LP because, hey, Super Metroid.

I always set run to R and aim up to L (at this point my R button feels like Jello from being held down for what most amount to solid weeks of time). This brings me to my point, why won't the game let me set aim down to B? There are a couple of points where it would be useful to have (mostly the vertical room right before the first missile pack), but I am forever barred from ducking and then aiming diagonally at the floor.
