Finished rereading American Gods and, yep, still my favorite Gaiman book. Though, oddly, I'd still say I liked Anansi Boys more. Was Hinzelman an original character though? Because even the really obscure figures I'd at least heard of before, just not him.

Anyway, decided to follow that up by rereading American Elsewhere (despite the titles, just a coincidence) and hadn't realized that this is Nightvale, except with a much better balance of Spooky/Jokey.

Given the publication date, I imagine the similarities are just a coincidence, but either way, it's a story about a weird desert town full of happily boring monsters.
