Cross Your Heart.

One interesting thing about this track is that a remnant of it remains in the form of "Den," the (amazing) theme of Rondo's Stage 7. Den is a culminating medley of "Vampire Killer," the main theme of Castlevania 1 that plays in Stage 2; "Bloody Tears," the main theme of Castlevania II that plays in Stage 3; "Beginning," the main theme of Castlevania III that plays in Stage 4; and finally..."Cross Your Heart," the main theme of Haunted Castle that plays nowhere! Following the pattern, it may have originally been planned to play in Stage 5 before getting replaced by an original track. (Or if they were sticking to the order in which the games were released, Cross Your Heart might have played in Stage 4 with Beginning going in Stage 5.)

Cross Your Heart wouldn't show up again until Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, where it followed a trend of games salvaging tracks from Haunted Castle, starting with "Don't Wait Until Night" popping up in Aria of Sorrow (as part of another medley with "Heart of Fire" from Castlevania 1) and continuing with "Clock Tower Fear" in Dawn of Sorrow (erroneously labeled "Underground Melody," which is a different tune that shared a track with Clock Tower Fear on the Haunted Castle soundtrack CD).

Mount of Sky Dragon sounds a lot like other 16-bit era Final Fantasy, but for some reason I'm feeling it more than the Castlevania tune.

I think Mount of Sky Dragon.

I just assumed that it was to minimize the amount of spoilers in the track titles of the soundtrack.

"Song That Might Play When You Fight Sans" uses the same leitmotif as the other Sans-related songs, "sans." and "It's Raining Somewhere Else," rendering the comically frank suggestion of its title plausible while successfully concealing the circumstances of the fight. By existing in the soundtrack at all, it also distracts from, and makes it harder to guess whom you'd be fighting when "Megalovania" plays. The track title also helps to give the player the idea that the plot might diverge considerably based on their decisions, which is true.

The nest most spoiler-sensitive songs, "Battle Against A True Hero" and its counterpart "Power of NEO," are concealed by the vagueness of their titles and by the fact that the leitmotif in them (shared by "Waterfall" and "NGAHHH!"/"Spear of Justice") is much more embellished and obscured than Sans' leitmotif is in "Song That Might Play..."

Opportunistic rather than planned, I'm guessing he wrote the song, didn't find a place to use it in the game, and put it in anyway because it was close enough to finish and could serve as camouflage in that way.

Or, at least, that's how I interpret it.

Cross Your Heart is great, like the bulk of the OST from Haunted Castle. It's crazy that it took 18 years to finally rescue it from that mess. I think that it also shows up in the Dracula X Chronicles OST, but I don't remember if you could find it hidden in the game anywhere.

Mount of Sky Dragon is interesting. I'm guessing it was an early track for Drakenvale or the North Mountain? Or both? The main melody reminds me a little bit of Cursed Earth, but the progression is way different.

Seems reasonable enough. I'll have to check those out.
