Default Xenoblade Chronicles 2

Seems we didn't have a thread for this yet!

No real surprises here: it definitely looks like a second Xenoblade. I think the story looks pretty dumb this time around, but the world is the important part, and this still looks like it'll deliver.

Also, this has Brits doing the voice work again! Even some Scots in the mix.

Why look, the female main character has a zohar on her boobplate. Paging GoggleBob?

I find the characters all have an unappealing look about 'em, but the WORLD looks amazing, and yeah, that's the important thing in this series. I look forward to getting it, playing it a whole bunch and mostly really enjoying it, but burning out and losing interest in it well before the end. THAT IS MY XENOBLADE TRADITION.

As someone who likes and will absolutely go to bat for the original Xenoblade, this looks like miserable anime trash.

Good Lord, I saw better looking character designs on those How To Draw Manga books when I went Michael's last week.

Yeah, I mean, they're like REALLY BAD, right? It's not just me?

Why are they so bad?

At this point the character designs being FFTA-tier is part of the charm. If anything, though, they're a bit TOO stereotypically "dumb anime" this time around. At least XBCX was really unsettling with the bug-eyes on some of the characters.

Yeah, I'll take this over XCX anyday. Guess since Prime 4 is going to force me to buy a Switch anyway, I'll pick this up at some point too.

If I had a good way to post pictures, I would slap a picture of Xenoblade 1's Dickson right here.

I didn't like Xenoblade Chronicles too much. It was just too much talking and too many pointless sidequests. It's basically a WRPG. I liked the combat and the world building, but the talking and sidequests just ruined it for me. When I reached that furball village I just couldn't take all the talking and questing anymore and gave up.

This new one looks quite different but I'll probably wait until release and then ask others if anything changed significantly from the original.

Yep, character design is bad. Still super excited about the game, but it would have been nice if it had less of a generic anime look.

Also, someone at Monolith Soft sure likes bottoms. Each of the Xenoblade games has had a different character designer, so I hesitate to blame them for all the barely existent pants that plague the series.

I assume sword girl is just a more mechanically involved version of annoying-Navi-swordgirl from Skyward Sword whose name I'm blanking on. You can see her flinch in pain when the hero parries a slash with 'her'.

E: She's not listed with the party (the hp gauge top left), but the interface has three other spots so maybe you recruit more sword spirit women?

Ridiculous big titty sword spirits aside, I'm fine with the character designs I've seen in this one.

I look forward to playing this for 60 hours, and somehow only being around 50% through before I burn out and start playing something else.

Looks like that's the case, but mercifully the other weapon spirits aren't just different shades of moe anime girls

Edit: Looks like every characters gets a weapon spirit they're linked too, effectively making battles six person parties

Yeah, the original was kind of the best and it's been downhill since then. This doesn't look that bad, but it is pretty generic.

We've cut out the middleman and now the Monado literally is an anime girl.

Some of the environments in the trailer still looked as rad as any seen in XC, and the trailer tune was pretty good at getting me pumped up about anime drama, so I'm still optimistic. XCX had the Skells but was otherwise looking much worse when it was revealed.

I'm gonna miss my Skell. Xenoblade 1 was great, but XCX is among my favorite games of all time.

The trailer wasn't good, but I think that's mainly because it focuses on the story, which has never been good in this series. I'm more interested in how the world is designed- whether it's gonna have individual big areas like the first Xenoblade, or whether it's a true open world like XCX.

Also, I really hope they don't go back to original's quest system- it was so much better in X.

I'm on the fence with this one. I don't like the character design, and the original XB was fun for a while but I burned out on it, so I'll probably wait and see what you all say about it.

And yeah, not keen on the sword lady one bit.

From the treehouse stream it appears they're individual areas
