Exclamation wth does this make me think of?

help there are some songs that I can ALMOST place, but not quite. They have this part that sounds just like something that brushes along the tip of my tongue, but it's gone.

The piano line sounds like... some indie pop female fronted song? Almost Lloyd, I'm Ready to be Heartbroken by Camera Obscura, but... not.

The part starting around the 5:20 mark. When I listened to it for the first time, I thought "oh, this sounds familiar", and was humming it in my head for a few bars until the player played the "wrong" note. Since my brain had an expectation, I must have heard something similar before, right?

I thought it would be Steven Cravis - Through the Kaleidescope, but that doesn't really match. Most of the piano music I have in my library is by him or David Nevue, but I haven't found the part that corresponds to this.

halp

Is the second one making you think of "Only Time" by Enya?

Enya was a lot closer than I initially thought it could be, and the Fray was one that I thought of already, but I listened again just to be sure and no dice. TY for suggestions, though

[edit-I just realized that was the wrong video for the first one. Updated it]

That first tune actually sounds a bit like "Complicated" by Avril Lavigne. Specially, the keyboard part is highly reminiscent of the melody/singing in "Complicated".

There's a strong general Bruce Springsteen vibe going on too.

??

I don't think this is actually the song you're thinking of (because I'm thinking that I'm also thinking of that song) but it's the one that most immediately comes to mind. I mean I'm hearing it and thinking 'yeah clearly I'm also thinking of a song by some group very inspired by the bangles' but I can't think of it.

EDIT: ah, I think I've placed the song I'm thinking of?

First one definitely sounds like either "Kids In America" or "Walk Like An Egyptian"..

It really does, it fits the melody line like a glove, but Complicated is in minor key and has different instrumentation. (Now I want a cover of it transposed to a major key...)

I haven't listened to much Springsteen, and Radio Nowhere is the only song I've listened to enough (holy shit, iTunes says it only has 65 plays? I would've said maybe 5 times that many) to have it internalized like this... I'll try it though.

Well, I don't know that one, but I can see how it bears resemblence.

Kids in America is also really close, but the rhythm is a little different. Maybe if we mashed it up with Complicated...

Appreciate all of you links and sympathy
