Do you think it's weird that Clancy Brown played both the cunning, low-key Lex Luthor and the frantic pirate-y cheapskate Mr. Krabbs on Spongebob Squarepants? Because I kinda do. Talk about range.

Well, don't forget his early role as an immortal 80's punk edgelord in Highlander.

Backing this up. One dude in ten million looks astonishing in it. Everyone else looks like they bought a $19.99 shirt & tie kit at a truck stop and put it on in the bathroom.

The earlier discussion about Batman: TAS prompted me to rewatch "POV", and I learned that one of the goons was actually voiced by Ron Perlman!

He even looks like Ron Perlman.

Not part of the DCAU proper, but I found out today that Ron Perlman played Deathstroke Slade in Teen Titans, and it blew my mind that I had never realized it before.

I've been rewatching a bunch of Batman Beyond episodes and it holds up better than I thought it would. Not of recurring antagonists, though, since they almost invariably get smoked by the end of the episode. Also, remember how there was an episode about a dork who mind-melded with a construction robot, and then a season and a half later he shows up again but he's super jacked and has Akira powers? Yeah, weird.

In an universe with flying eobots, genetically spliced batmen and alien overlords, that's not uncommon.

I rewatched the blatant anti-drug episode with Bane and although it's not a great episode, I picked up on a line whose subtleties escaped me previously.

Static Shock clearly is part of the DCAU, which kinda sneaks TT in (Batman refers to Robin being off with the Titans in one of the SS crossover episodes). But, yeah, it's a stretch, especially since the earliest times we see Dick he's a 21-year old (or older) and that causes the whole timeline to collapse in on itself.

(That's where the villain embargoes / limitations actually paid off, as the shows never contradict each other as a result.)

There's always That One Girl In The Club*. The animated version is 100% accurate.

* - who throws elbows like she's the product of a Serpentor-like genetic experiment whose DNA contributors were Charles Oakley, Geordie Howe, Mitsaharu Misawa and Anderson Silva.

'Cause it's not part of the DCAU proper. No Timm or Dini and it came out years after JLU wrapped up.

It's a great show, it just doesn't count.

Just watched See No Evil in Batman TAS, and damn. That opening is amazing because it's an animated version of like, Frank Capra or possibly Hitchcock. In general I love this show's anachronistic art style, where there's clearly modern/comic book style future technology at play, but people drive classic cars and dress like it's the 1940s.

I've noticed nearly every sign or other big text object in the world is misspelled, though. Guessing the actual animators weren't native English speakers. I mean, for example, this episode has a sign that says CONSTRUTION on it.
