I've never played Alfred Chicken so I can't say one way or the other, but even assuming the Grumps were playing like assholes the game didn't seem all that special. Though I wouldn't put it past them to get a game no one's really familiar with and play it like the worst game ever because of how it looks on the surface for the lulz. Maybe it deserves a closer look?

The main Grump-gripe I have is how Arin keeps slamming the new Mario games (not just the NSMB series, but Galaxy too) but the few times Danny presses him for actual reasons the only thing he really comes up with is how they 'keep reusing the Fire Flower'. Bah.

It's not Yoshi's Island for sure, but it's an enjoyable platformer that builds on its ideas in a really effective way, with some clever puzzles and hidden warps. It's certainly not a bad game. The Grumps don't even attack the enemies. It's just a mendacious presentation of a good but forgotten game that's going to get reams of assholes lambasting it as the "worst game ever" because Arin and Danny did.

Edit: To elaborate, the SNES is a system that has such games as Lester the Unlikely, Harley's Humungous Adventure and Wayne's World. Alfred Chicken is on another fucking level. It's a big, challenging game with solid controls, some unique mechanics and hidden items to score for 100% completion. Sure, the SNES version isn't as impressive as the Game Boy one in terms of making the most of its hardware, but the SNES game has all-new levels and bosses (and much more of them) which are just as good as the original's. It's a fun platformer, and it's disappointing to see the Grumps rag on it when it deserves better.

I like Alfred Chicken.

I don't know how to record SNES properly yet.

Dracula X is really making me wish I still had my PSP so I could play Dracula X Chronicles. I never even tried the original version of Rondo on there.

I think it's fun watching you flip your shit about Alfred Chicken, when there's another thread on the forum where you totally dismiss brilliant classics like Bionic Commando and Mass Effect with pithy one-liners.

I got too MAD AT INTERNETZ to watch any more Dracula X. Arin got right back on his "CV4 is stupid and easy because of your god whip" tirade, which is a pretty ballsy move considering he failed to complete the game on his show because it was way too hard. Argh! Argh.

Binding of Isaac would be a good series in the hands of gamers who were actually committed to learning how the game worked and were serious about really playing it, but Game Grumps is not that show, so there's no point watching that series either.

I haven't been watching Maniac Mansion but some dudes I know who really like Maniac Mansion report that it is driving them insane. So I guess the Grumps are 0/3 in their Halloween adventures!

So, I can't be the only one who have been yelling "GO RIGHT" for the last two episodes(27 and 28) of SMB3, right? Right?

I honestly can't remember that castle well, and I usually use a cloud on it anyhow. Since there's a pipe right after it you are safe to skip it if you don't get a game over.

I'm not watching Wind Waker because I'm holding off on getting the game until Christmas. I wish they'd go back to Secret of Mana.

It's a Steam games post, so I'm talking about this Bionic Commando:

But if you thought it was a brilliant classic then that's your call bro. Though for the record I played the original for the first time just a year or so ago and while I didn't actually like playing it I could see why it was so liked, I could respect its design. That's how I feel about Mass Effect. It bored me. Too much riding in lifts. I heard the second one was much better, but my copy is on Origin so I'm unlikely to ever get around to it. But yeah, if a million billion people like a game it obviously has merit, I just can't appreciate it because it isn't my thing. Different people like different things.

Edit: Apologies for responding to this so late, it makes me feel super-petty. I didn't see it. Feel free to entirely ignore.

I always did that as a kid, but the castle isn't really that tough. Can be beaten very quickly if you know the way. The trick is to go right after hitting the P-switch to find the final hidden door.

The problem is Arin searches everywhere except to the right after hitting that switch. It's frustrating for me to watch when I know the obvious solution. If he keeps it up for more episodes, I'll go insane.

I'd argue the solution to that Fortress isn't clued hard enough. The hidden door to Boom Boom is at a dead end, perched atop what looks like nothing more than a foothold to get you out of a pit. There's nothing to tell the player "this is important somehow". You're given no incentive to go that way except as a last resort, and you might only find it by accident even then.
Consider also that there's a Fortress in World-3 with lots of doors that sets up the idea of a non-linear solution. (Only one door works, but it's not the last one, so you gotta check 'em all.) The deck is effectively stacked against the player this way.

Truth: if that level were submitted to STTB, I'd probably want to rework it

I can't believe they had so much trouble with other stuff, and then Danny beats Bowser on his first try.

I still have trouble with Bowser.

Amazing Frog? is the reason to own an Ooya (how is that spelled?). I was in tears, ACTUAL TEARS... And all I could think was "this must be a Garry's Mod game mode". Please, I MUST experience it's majesty elsewhere.

Danny is officially my favourite Grump. Arin's been kind of a prick lately, especially in the new Mario World playthrough. I wonder what a Jon and Danny Not-so-grump Not-so-grump episode would be like.

Yeah, having a dude tell you how to play Mario isn't really that much fun. I would be more entertained if Arin would try to take a different path for a while. I really thought it was going to go do Star Road and that split would have been entertaining.

I've been passing on the Wind Waker videos because I haven't had time to play the Wii-U release yet and I didn't really want my future playthrough to be skewed by a Grump version.

Is this a Sonic '06 'A Beautiful Moment' kind of deal, or something else entirely?

This is breaking new ground for Game Grumps. Not surprisingly, it came from the mouth of Dan.
