Can not run out of time, there is infinite time. You are finite. Zathras is finite. This...is wrong tool.

OKAYYYYYY

S2 Wrap up. I like how Londo's fall is complete with the move first to navy blue then to full black coats. And I like how he is still not a total piece of shit. He feels guilty for Lennier getting coma'd for saving him and stays with him in medlab. Also you may remember they were pals in s1. Of course it makes it all the more heartbreaking when Lennier comes to and regrets that decision. Then:

"What did you see Ambassador?"

"Nothing... I saw nothing..."

AW SHIT

Then Refa getting more hand with Morden!!! Londo is kinda Dukat done right. They stick the landing, where in ds9 they blow it with Dukat after all that great work making him a flawed but sympathetic character mid series.

ALSO

They finally know how to light this mother.

On to s3

I can't watch bits with Zathras anymore without hearing this snippet of a made-up conversation my husband came up with between Zathras and Yoda:

Y: Told them I did. Listen they did not. Too old the boy was.
Z: Zathras sympathize. Nobody listen to Zathras, either.
Y: Now, end of the Jedi.
Z: Did they blame you? Everybody blames Zathras.

etc.

OK

All done a few weeks back

So the fact that I ran through s3-5 in a few weeks where it took months for s1-2 speaks volumes.

s3: Starts the Shadow War and Earth War in earnest. Honestly watching these for first time in like 10 years, the Shadow war is ultimately sill and much less interesting than the Clarke takeover, but what ever. Shit gets real when they get their sweet ass new uniforms, the production remains high and awesome and all the sweet battles take place. The new war room is so fucking cool, a much better set than the OPs room. Highlight - defending B5 from earth, Sinclair and b4, Kosh gets fucked, DO GO TO ZA HA DUM

s4: Well I like that the shadow war was complex and that the Vorlons were not so innocent. That said... it was wrapped up in 6 eps after 3 years of build up. Kinda a anticlimax. BUT! Sheridan in s4 is fucking epic. He's full on badass and looks like a fucking serious jarhead or a gladiator or something. Fucking cool "I'm feeling better now.." Long gone is baby fat Sheridan from s2. Earth war is so good I can hardly even believe it. This is the bets season of the show btw. Also the hastily made finale is actually better than the series finale in a lot of ways.

s5: I remember not liking this season. But really not so bad, aside from the Neil Gaiman penned ep. Byron fucking sucks though, and that arc sucks except for making Lita a badass later. The Drakh / Centauri arc is much cooler and feels like a set up for a show that never happens (Crusade doesn't count) . Another cool finale.. Gandalf takes Frodo to the Grey Havens. ALSO: Lochley is so unimportant I wonder why she is in this at all. They should have reshot parts of s4 and had Marcus survive and Ivanova die. Silly! But overall not as bad as I remember and the production is still boss.

Good series. Need to track down Crusade and movies next. Will forget Legend of The Rangers and Lost Tales ever happened

Good advice for us all, really. I honestly wouldn't bother with Crusade either. You can see where it could have become really cool, but as is I don't think it's particularly worth your time.

Having just re-watched In the Shadow of Z'ha'dum last night, I just wanted to note that I love the sheer volumes of unintentional prophecy that winds up getting delivered in this series.

Sup fools. Necroing this thread because the AV Club just kicked off coverage of SPINNING METAL.

I think the pilot and first season are a lot more watchable than early TNG, but I'm setting a pretty low bar there.

Someone's going to remember to keep an eye on that series and link back when we can just get a full list of the episode-by-episode grades to use as a culling guide for the first season or so, right? Because my memory sucks.

Sinclair is awesome. I'm willing to give a lot of leeway for poor acting in exchange for sincerity, and Sinclair has sincere oozing out of every pore in his wooden face.

Here's a link to the hub page, which will update every Friday, but if you want a quick-and-dirty summation of the "plot" episodes, I think Signs and Portents, Babylon Squared, and Chrysalis are most of what you need.

Apparently the entirety of Babylon 5 is on WB.com

Gotta love the clumsy exposition in Midnight on the Firing Line

"I'll never trust your people, Londo! Remember that time that we made first contact with your people!?"

Yeah, I saw that. This show's cast has not had good luck with the longevity thing. :/

Salutes to our first commander.

It's incredible to me that more B5 stars have died than Star Trek TOS stars

Aw, dammit. Soon as I clicked on this thread, I sort of guessed what was coming. I think part of me has subconsciously been expecting this ever since that strange message from JMS asking if anyone knew his whereabouts - it seemed pretty clear that whatever was going on with him, he wasn't in a good way. I wonder if we'll ever know the whole story.

So JMS has finally revealed the real reason O'Hare had to leave after one season - apparently he was battling mental illness the whole time, but kept it secret in order to keep working. Poor guy. I guess that also explains why he more-or-less dropped off the radar completely after B5.

http://www.blastr.com/2013-5-28/stra...left-babylon-5

All this just makes me even more annoyed by Jerry Doyle bad-mouthing him on his radio show some years back. I mean okay, maybe he didn't have the whole picture about what was going on back then, but it was still a really nasty, unprofessional thing to do.

Sad to say, it has been many times proven that Jerry Doyle is an asshole. That one's just a biggish drop in the bucket.
