The fuck, how do you eat KFC without mashed potatoes to dip it in? Sounds like the worst thing.

I'd take KFC over any other BIG NAME fast food option any day of the week

their mashed potatoes suck though

The only correct answers to the fast food fried chicken question are Bojangles and Pollo Campero.

I know I just complained about their sides, and they really aren't good (mostly due to bad selection, though). But the actual chicken from KFC Japan is OK. It's just not good enough that I would want to buy it with any kind of regularity.

Popeyes is much better than KFC. Fried Chicken is generally better than other fast food though. I usually go for chicken sandwiches at burger places when I can.

I love the fries and biscuits at Popeyes but there's nothing on that menu that doesn't give me heartburn.

I love the spicy chicken strips at Popeye's their quality depends greatly on how fresh they are.

I'm fairly certain Popeye's mashed taters have meat in them, but they're so fucking delicious I can't help it.

Popeye's is damn good chicken. You ever had their Mardi Gras dipping sauce? It's horseradish and mustard mixed together, and it works brilliantly.

I far prefer Bojangles to Popeyes, but sometimes you've just got to make do with what you've got.

On that note, I have become something of a fan of Church's Chicken...

I don't think we have Popeye's or Church's here. At least, I've never seen either one.

But all y'all are making me curious. :-/

No idea what Bojangles is, but now I wish we had one around here so I'd have reason to say Bojangles more often.

Bojangles.

They've got a Church's in Nogales. I'll have to pencil that one in tomorrow...

Bojangles.
Their biscuits are some of my favorites. And you can get their biscuit sandwiches all day, too!

They have great dirty rice, but I love the seasoned fries/wedges -- always get extra seasoning, I do. I even had a friend bring me a shaker of the stuff from when he was down there recently.

...bloody hell, just talking about it makes me want to eat there right now. =(

The nearest Popeye's is well over an hour and a half away, which just makes it an exotic treat.

Popeye's is kind of like a shitty Bojangles. Church's Chicken I associate too strongly with South Carolina to really give a fair shake.

McDonald's is doing all-day breakfast here, as well as a lot of "McD's is SO SOUTHERN Y'ALL!!!" type marketing in an hilarious attempt to compete with Bojangles.

Maybe at other locations, but the Bojangles at the Charlotte airport was nothing to write home about.

For fried chicken, it's either KFC in the States (Canada's just isn't quite as good) or Bojangles for me, depending on what I'm craving.

Yeah, Church's chicken didn't work out too well for me. It wasn't bad, it wasn't good, it was just THERE. And the strips came out of the fryer paler than ME! Instead of golden brown, they were more like golden off-white. The honey glazed biscuits were a highlight, but they were a bit lumpy... I prefer them fluffy but with a defined shape, the way Popeye's and KFC serves them.

so I generally don't like fast food much but I lourve Halloween, so I'm a sucker and try the "signature" junk food that defines each season. Last year it was Ghostbusters donuts from Kripsy Kreme, the year before it was the retro Monster cereals Frute Brute and Yummy Mummy. This year...

it... was OK? You know, for a fast food burger, which is an incredibly low bar. The A1 bun tasted less like A1 and more like kind of pumpernickel-y. I would give it a thumbs up for Halloween branding and another if you like Burger King ever.

They had those at Burger King Japan and McDonald's Japan last year (McD's also had a "ghost" burger with a white bun). They make them black by injecting squid ink into the buns. Which sounds gross, but squid ink is totally flavorless.

It isn't flavorless. Squid ink tastes like sea water.

Mmm... now I want some squid ink fettucine.

I had Five Guys in the Atlanta airport back in March and it was right on the money. Then again I was half-conscious and starving so I probably would've eaten dry cat food if someone handed it to me

Tim Hortons is also on point as airport food, provided you're hung over.
