Default Another Popularity Contest (#13)

OK, these are the topics for the next popularity contests. Please vote for JUST three or less. If you vote for more, please note which choices you would like to remove so I can make a point of that. If you vote for 4 or more, then all your votes are void. If you pick just one or two, you can pick the other two later, but you need to make a point of telling me (bolding it will get my attention better). If you want to change a vote, you can do that too.

Here are the topics up for submission

Top 50 Dinosaurs (+1, Kirin)
Top 50 Game Soundtracks
Top 50 Games of the 21st Century
Top 50 Graphic Novels and Comic/Manga Collections
Top 50 Musical Numbers in a Stage Production or Feature Film
Top 50 Tabletop Games
Top 50 Winter Holiday Songs

If you have any questions about the choices, now is the time to ask. Poll will close in four days.

Are there even 50 dinosaurs?

1. T-Rex
2. Stegosaurus
3. Those flying ones

That's it.

Yeah, the only rule I'd use would be "No Mammals"

Mammals stink!

They better. It's how they attract mates.

EDIT: Pleasantly surprised by the success of the "musical numbers" category. Though really, I think any of these would be great. Not super eager to see back to back video games category (though they just said games, so I don't know, maybe it includes 21st century skeeball?)

Been too busy to be on the forums these past few weeks, so no chance for Top 50 Star Trek episodes to lost out again!

I voted only for mine because I really want to do one of these and am excited about my subject.

That said if musical numbers wins I will also be happy. I wasn't sure if I had 25 songs to contribute but now that I think about it I totally do and I think it would be a great thread.

If the Musical Numbers contest wins, I can contribute the songs from The Wizard of Oz, Moulin Rouge, and a ton of Disney stuff. And that's about it; for reason even I don't fully understand, I've always found musicals to be intensely embarrassing, like I feel bad for the actors and also feel bad for myself.

Can the category be expanded to television? There's been some great musical numbers on television.

Can we say Hamilton is ineligible?

"New shiny" could ruin the whole thing...

That seems like a pretty silly rule to have to put in. I don't think there needs to be a rule about something new and popular simply out of fear that it will distract from older things. It seems that it would be unfair and sets a precedent about trying to exclude stuff for the host not liking it/not to my taste/there are better things and it would be better for people to say what they like what they like as long as it fits into the parameters of Stage/Movie musical (plus I already think people are going to be arguing about those parameters anyway).

I mean, I don't like 50 Shades of Grey, but if I did a top 50 romantic movies list, it would be allowed. Obviously, there wouldn't be a lot of worry of it getting high, but if there was I wouldn't exclude it for fear of winning. I think proposing a particular thing not be allowed simply because it allows for more/fewer surprises and/or it doesn't skew things the way the host would take away from some of the fun of the list.

But that would be up to Büge.

I'm trying to keep it simple here. Just about the only exception I feel could be argued would be movies that had their debut on television, e.g. High School Musical.

Well, gotta give my topic props for consistency. I think this is the third time where it's started out in a close second after a day of polling, but then slipped back to 4th or 5th by the end. (But hey, while I'm in the middle of playing FFXV probably isn't the best time for me to start running one of these anyway!)

Edit: I didn't use all my votes and after reading Drac's list I want to add one for Dinosaurs. ;P

No surprise at this point, Musical Numbers is the winner. Not a seasonal list but considering when the results will probably show, this is going to be a good way to ring out the old and ring in the new! Looking forward to it.

Mine are going to be all from movies (or if they weren't originally, that's when I encountered them). I feel like this one will require me to do research. I have a feeling that I will forget films that aren't musicals but have one or two great musical numbers.

Yeah, this is gonna take some work... especially since I don't already have a handy list of my favorite movies/musicals/plays lying around like I do for games and anime.

I think I'll be sitting out this round, but I'm still happy that an interesting list won instead of Yet Another Video Game Poll. Looking forward to the results thread!
