Default Nyteworks Presents

I don't know why it never occurred to me to share some of my writings here in this forum before. I guess for whatever reason, I thought it was more for comics and art and fan fiction, but looking around...

In case anyone reading was unaware, I run a few different websites under the Nyteworks banner, including The Mega Man Network for Mega Man news and stuff, Mario's Hat for Canadian gaming news, and PoisonMushroom.Org, which has sort of evolved into a "nerd/geek culture" blog of sorts.

Video games, cartoons, comics, toys, movies, wrestling, old commercials, even "fast food culture" -- I look at a lot of stuff there.

My latest article, "The Too-Small Toy Rides of the 80's," is a sort of nostalgia-driven piece looking at the disparity between the signature rides of some classic 80's cartoons and how the toy versions ended up leaving one wanting for leg room... or just any room at all.

I hope some of you will at least check it out!

So, a few updates.

I've begun to live stream games, so that's a thing to check out if that interests you.

I reunited with fellow ex-Nintendo Power writer Chris Hoffman to do a couple of podcasts -- one about everything Nintendo x wrestling, and the other about Miitomo, My Nintendo, and other assorted stuff.

Finally, as far as actual writing goes, I wrote about WrestleMania and its fallout here.

If anyone hasn't seen it yet, my latest on PMO is Transformers: Techbots vs. Technobots - This is the real Combiner War.

Recently, after going through most of the line with no announcement of a Technobots/Computron release, some leaks of box art for the combined form got out and people got speculating as to what it was comprised of.

Then Takara Tomy started revealing their own version, and that was quickly followed by Hasbro at BotCon last week. Turns out the two are very different, and so I decided to put them head to head alongside their original G1 counterparts to see which version comes out on top.

Okay, so I'm trying to get back to posting a little more regularly here, so I'm starting by cleaning up some stuff I had kicking around. Stuff like "ScrewAttack's Top 10 Super NES Games You Need to Play", wherein I home in on one particular entry that surprised me and what I hope could come of it (plus why it might work better than similar attempts).

And Metal Combat: Falcon's Revenge, and Yoshi's Safari. Never got to try that version of T2: The Arcade Game, but I heard Tin Star was good?

Also, new post up: Relive the Entire 80s/90s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cartoon

So, a few new things.

The Nintendo Launch Title Battle Royal - Which Nintendo console had the best launch lineup? And none of this "launch window" stuff, either.

Retro Rewind Checks Out Still-Open Video Rental Stores - Did you know Blockbuster Video stores still exist? And that's not all!

The End of Infinity - Well, that was unexpected. Probably not much here you haven't read elsewhere, though, but I am regretful over some figures I don't have and some we'll never get.

So, if anyone is interested, I'm doing a live stream tonight for Halo: Spartan Assault. I'd love the company!

How Toys to Life Could Revive Masters of the Universe for a New Generation - It has the power!

I believe the title is self-explanatory.

Also, tonight is the next episode of The Friday Nyteworks Stream, featuring Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan!

Not technically PMO, but still from Nyteworks. If anyone's interested in a TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan review, there you go.

Another Mario's Hat-instead-of-PMO thing, but I just reviewed Kirby: Planet Robobot.

Figured I might as well change the name there...

I haven't updated much lately. Here's why. And if you don't care about that, there are plenty of Otakon pics as well.

Forza Horizon 3 is out, and as someone not into driving sims, what do I think about it? Here's my review.

Sorry to hear about some of your troubles, LBD. As someone who tried to do a similar project himself (minus the monetary part), it can be really frustrating and hard to understand why exactly your content isn't catching fire. I've enjoyed reading your work, so I hope to continue seeing what you have to say as you transition into a new direction.
