Default 2016 Read Stories/Books

2016 - The year where Book began ... ?

Post title explained:
"Book" is overused with my entries in this thread. A book often contains one story, sometimes multiple ones. Anthologies, for example. A comic isn't a book, yet I would count it here. Pulp fiction, which I read as well, are not really books, not even novellas.

Goals:
- Read 5 books FAIL!
- Enter all my books into Goodreads (Stephen King left...) FAIL!
- Add a widget to Goodreads to this post (won't work, is HTML code)
- Re-buy all my Stephen King books in English FAIL!

...
Yeah, that's it.

Explanation:
Normal Book
Short Story
Pulp Fiction (64 pages, cheap)
Comic, Graphic Novel
Tried it, but didn't read it to the end
* consumed digitally

Now Reading:

This is the first year in several that I decided not to be Sober, Mature, and Responsible with my gift money.

So... I... kind of blew nearly $600 on Sailor Moon figuarts, Munchkin cards, and books! Being from my wishlist, these books (42 of them, to be precise) will not be going into the backlog, which is ruled by the iron fist of an Excel-driven age-weighted RNG. Nope... I'm devouring these babies now, in the order that I feel like reading them!

I figure I'm good through April at least.

Goal for 2016 is 27 books. My best is 25, and I want to break through that wall.

Rereads will be marked with a *.

Shorter works won't count toward my total and will be in gray. (I started off tracking manga but changed my mind. Novellas only, now.)

Sub-goal: it's a secret. But if you look at the demographics of the authors I'm reading you can probably figure it out.

Sub-goal: continue my mini-project to read some older (pre-2000 or so) fantasy and SF by women. These will be marked with a ‡. So far: 3.

Sub-goal: read some non-fiction. These will be marked with teal text. So far: 1.

January (3)

Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews
Mindplayers by Pat Cadigan ‡
Deryni Rising by Katherine Kurtz ‡

I'll rather mention three I have "problems" completing, and in general I find the term "completed book" somewhat blasphemic =)

It's "Stranger", anything from Proust and Aleksandar Konstantinovic's "Give us Today" (an ancient Serbian writer, long time forgotten even in his own country - don't even try to find it).

Can't explain...I just keep on returning to these, as if they were full of poetry!?

I absolutely failed at books in 2016. I'm a bit embarassed by my inability to put my nose in a book once in a while.

I should remedy that in 2017, and also read more paper books, so my daughter doesn't see my cellphone as much as she does already.
