Why? I mean, I could see an annual/per game bonus based on sales/quality. But I suspect game development for a studio you don't own part of is generally going to be a salaried gig.

Yeah. Even big deals like Miyamoto and Kojima get their salary, and that's it.

It makes sense now that I actually commented on it, I just never actually considered it before.

I forgot but I made a demo with Traumadore (artist) and Warg (musician) for a game called "Rampant". I'd put it in but I don't know how to put in multiple people.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5Rs0yZxzw8

Also, M.Nicolai did the cover art and Morbid Coffee did the title screen for Curse of the Crescent Isle but multiple people...

Maybe have a separate listing for each person? So it makes it easier when trying to sort by Tyrant. I feel like that's the best option, despite the multiple nearly duplicate entries it'd create.

I was just going to say. I was very surprised at how many Tyrants did localization for Atlus, and that Nich actually designed Google's rpg. Has the world gone mad?

Unfortunately I don't know enough about who did what, so I can't really fix it. Maybe require a password for editing, so viewers don't accidentally screw with it?

Yes. This is what I have said in both of my posts.

I apologize for any offense I have caused, but seriously, it's distressing to me that I'm getting called out for saying the same thing that people are agreeing with a couple of posts later. In hindsight, I should have been more delicate in my phrasing, and I'm sorry for being unclear.

If you want to find a game that was developed wholly by one person on the forum -- and, hey, I can imagine a situation where you might want to -- then we ought to be putting something like "everything" or "solo project" in the "Role" column. No separate list needed.
A thousand times this. Please try to reuse previous Roles so we can keep the filter list manageable.

Yeaah, as other people said, game development doesn't always work that way. But maybe it would be helpful to add a Publisher column to keep track of what games are self-published. Or maybe some other way to keep track of what games make a profit for Tyrants. I can see how that option would be helpful. Suggestions?

Experience with the recommendation list did show that this will happen a bit at first. I'm afraid Google Docs doesn't have many options to prevent this when the doc is open for anonymous editing. Thankfully we have a revert feature, but the first few days when everybody is adding stuff this will happen once or twice.

The only thing we can do is be careful - if you see other people editing the doc, wait a bit before sorting or filtering. Also, if you see a missing entry, make sure filtering is turned off before trying to correct it (that also happened a few times in the recommendation list). The best thing, if you have a Google account, would be to create a copy of the doc in your own account before filtering and/or changing the sort order. You can always recopy it later to keep it in synch.

Yes, sorry. I was thinking of self-published games when I said that, but I realize that there are business models that don't involve putting your own game on Steam or the iOS App Store. I think a column like that would be useful, though.

Also make sure all the rows and columns are visible and not hidden. You can generally keep an eye out for this by seeing if there are any missing numbers or letters in the rows or columns. Most often, it'll be missing rows as a result of someone filtering something then forgetting to unfilter it.

I honestly have no idea what would the best way to proceed. Do we add a "Published" column and assume that everything that says "Self-Published" puts a few pennies in the pocket of a tyrant? Or do we use two columns, one for publisher and one titled, I dunno, "Makes A Profit?" or something? Can somebody with more experience in the industry chime in?

And hopefully somebody will come up with a better column name.

Also, I'm glad to see people are adding their stuff. I was a little afraid nobody would add anything. Thanks, guys!

Should I offer a sacrifice to the moderators to try to make this a sticky? Do I have to draw a pentagram while writing a PM or something?

That's google's auto-sort. Dunno if there's a way to "fix" it, but I'd let it be. If you change it manually it will only move itself back to 'T' when we auto-sort the list again.

I think it's weird to want to give a Tyrant money.

If you buy Persona Q you aren't giving Nich money but you're still supporting his work, as well as validating his efforts.

If you want to SUPPORT game Tyrants that's everyone on the list. If you want to monetize Tyrants just buy us each a sandwich or something. This whole line of reasoning seems bizarre. I don't think less of BeeZee for being self employed, and he doesn't think less of me for the opposite.

So what's the point of differentiating?

So did we have a consensus on fan gamey stuff? Maybe it's just hubris talking but I'd like to see the STTB games on a list of games made by Tyrants (for Tyrants).

Though I understand if allowing SMBX stuff is the start of a slippery slope.

No consensus yet! However I've added a new tab for fangames - please write those games there! If we eventually conclude that it all should be in a single sheet, then it is just a matter of CTRL+X/CTRL+V'ing the appropriate rows.

How about if you worked on something that can be played by another person you're on the list, full stop. Like holy jeezums guys, does it matter if you did a single piece of sprite work or programmed the entire thing? Who cares if its a fan project or a triple A game?

...so should we list all of your games, or just put "Nintendo" and be done with it?

I was going to make a joke involving the NES, and it took my a few nap-addled minutes to calculate how many years ago it was released.

#1: 30-1 is not a difficult math.

#2: It was released the year I was born.

Guys, when sorting make sure you click on "Sort sheet by column", because using "Sort range by column" will screw up the sheet and will force me to revert to an earlier save and every time somebody reverts a document Google* kills a kitten or something.

No, you're not! The real Miyamoto is my grandfather and visits me every month and has told me so many secrets from Nintendo you wouldn't believe so don't ask because I'm seriously not telling!

*The company, not the Tyrant. Google (the Tyrant) doesn't kill kittens. Arguably.

Did they get removed, or were they never put in? In the former it probably happened during a rollback.

I've checked some previous revisions and I don't think they were ever added. If they were, I'm afraid they were accidentally removed when I had to revert early this morning. If that's the case, my apologies. =/ Tell me at what time they were added and I'd try to recover them, or you can add them again.
