Episode 1

Swearing, vulgarity.

I am going to attempt to do a regular YouTube show about videogames and stupid jokes.

This is the pilot. It has bad art what I done, but I have an artist on board who is actually mad talented, so eps 2 onwards ought to look a lot nicer.

There are inconsistencies here because I was getting a handle on the look and feel, but I have it down now.

Just over 8 mins, hope people like. Any feedback at all would be great.

I enjoyed. This makes a worthy substitute for Gaming in the Major Years.

This won't matter to most viewers, but the Japanese on the "Studio Gippli" splash screen reads "Maker Gippli." It also indicates a hard G, but maybe that's intentional since the soft G in "Ghibli" is the opposite of what a lot of people expect.

Yeah - I used a direct translate thing, cos I thought it might be funnier if I didn't even know what it said?

If you know the correct Japanese (it sounds like you obviously do), then I would love to see it so I can add it in.

I watched the Duke Nukem segment three times before I was able to make out the phrase "risk/reward at its aspartamiest," but it was worth the wait.

The best part of how the Japanese syllybaries work is the difference between this and the name it's punning rom is the exchange of two very small lines for a single dot

This video had me cracking up at several points. Really like the format of the video.

"The controls feel good, like a naked young man." Bravo.

Shame on you for ruining Undertale.

Also wow I didn't realize just how nostalgic Alex Kidd music made me feel.

Good stuff. I liked it. I was entertained.

I don't know if it's what you're going for but you don't spend much time on any segment.

Also, the scrolling text could be slowed down. It's way too hard to read without pausing.

I liked it, more please.

Man, that first Duke Nukem game, that takes me back. I played around with the level editor for it for ages, I remember making a giant labyrinthine monstrosity where I just kept added more and more to the first level I messed around with. It was probably the first video game editor-thing I ever messed around with, come to think of it.

So you can thank Duke Nukem for my contribution to the Talking Time Bros games, I guess!

The titles at the beginning are meant to be stupidly fast, but I will slow down the credit roll some.

Considering its predecessors and its future Duke Nukem is a pretty good DOS platformer imo. Fell into the usual Apogee trap of episode 1 being waaaay higher quality than the "registered" eps.

Thanks for the feedback so far. Later eps are going to be more consistent with the Master System aesthetic. I'm bringing in an artist with talent for thumbnails, but I'll probably keep my dumb doodles for the interstitial bits. I think they contribute to the personal feel I'm going for, like this is MY THING

Really well done, and funny on a professional comedy writer level.

I particularly like your scattershot approach, just tackling whatever games and topics you want. That also makes it feel like YOUR THING.

I agree the writing was sharp and the performance was good and I liked that thing that duke nukethem said about the wage gap.

I am always so excited when there are new madhair videos about games.

Do what you want, but I like that you don't spend too much time on any one thing. If I want to see a humorless and tedious nerd drone on endlessly about a game telling WaCkY not-actually-jokes, I can find a billion LPs on youtube doing just that.

This series of compact and well crafted commentary across different subjects is something different and special.

Yes, this exactly. This is the sentiment I wanted to express, but couldn't think of a way to do it without sounding sarcastic and prickish. estragon thought of a way though, so I'm seconding.

But yeah, this was delightful. Short, punchy, and funny throughout, and my brain is irrationally fond of that black-on-white crosshatch SMS look. In particular, I really like the little intro sequence at the 36-second mark.

If you need an idea for a box art design, might I suggest "Stuart Gipp vs. everyone else's bad opinions"?

I loved it because it is not every other cookie-cutter gaming show. It reflects your voice. You have my official endorsement. You can put that on the tin.
