Default Animals are Awesome and Want You to Appreciate Them

Estranged cousin of the thread for terrifying animals.

A 15,000-year-old Antarctican sea sponge may be the oldest single organism on this planet. Unnerving, or fucking awesome? VOTE NOW ON YOUR PHONES

While Duke’s role is somewhat unusual, he’s not the first animal to be elected to office in the U.S. Roadtrippers has a fascinating look at some of the nation’s non-human mayors, including two other dogs, a cat, a cow and a beer-drinking goat named Mayor Clay Henry III.
Who... who elects a cat as mayor?

... Then again, I'd assume a cat would have more empathy and would be smarter than Trump.

Holy shit, I would've put that in the terrifying thread. Like, I am legit terrified of that moose right now. If I were out on that slope that would instantly become the scariest thing I've ever seen.

Moose tend to be pretty sedate as a rule, but yeah, you don't want to fuck with a charging moose.

The Canadian Moose is pretty much Sonic the Hedgehog, except made entirely out of several tons of bone and muscle

You also don't want the moose knuckle.

The only positive part of the moose experience is Moose Tracks, which signal that the rampaging beast has already departed the area and you are therefore free to enjoy your ice cream in peace and safety.

Dogs recognize both words and tone to know when they’re good

There's a lot of fascinating research being done into dog intelligence, and how it's directed very specifically at understanding and communicating with humans.
