I immediately felt that vibe watching the trailer. This looks super-rad!

Weird news, everyone!

The soundtrack to Mummy: Demastered is available NOW on digital music stores and Spotify.

Do consider listening even though you... haven't played the game... yet.

Note: Jake "Virt" did NOT work on this game. I've seen a lot of "classic virt!" From the trailer, and that's... well full disclosure and all.

The ost is still incrediballs though.

This looks great, I'm going to play this. I was just thinking about how much I miss Contra 4 (got rid of my DS years ago) and I feel like this will fill that void and then some.

Right in between Fire Emblem Warriors and Super Mario Odyssey. That's a bold move but I guess I don't have to play Odyssey right away.

Is this going to be digital-only? I assume so.

I just need to decide if I'm going Switch or PS4 on this. I don't have a Pro controller (yet), so it might work out better for me on the PS4... but I want stuff on my Switch!

I'm a few songs into the soundtrack and so far the music is very good! Salt and Sepulchur is an excellent tone-piece, makes me wish I was traveresing a series of linked catacombs.

Well, they're not wrong. Super Mario Odyssey is right around the corner, and while the game's not directly based on the new Mummy film, said film being a flop* will certainly color many people's opinions when it comes to deciding whether or not to buy the tie-in game or something else.

* It made back its money and then some with the help of the international market, but I'm sure that they expected to make way more than like $64.1 million in profit for a movie that cost around $345 million including its advertising campaign.

I'm pretty pumped about that Mummy game.

What's the word on Mystik Belle? I like the Halloween aesthetic but it looks kinda slow and floaty, I dunno.

I can still play Contra 4 on my 2DS. (Also I didn't get rid of any of my DS systems so I can play it on those too but anyway.)

Still, I'd like to see Contra 4 re-released on other* current systems. Or any Contra game, for that matter. No, the port of arcade Contra doesn't count as any Contra game.

* namely PS4. I'd like to see Contra 4 on PS4. Or any other Contra game. And Contra arcade still doesn't count.

How about the arcade port of Super Contra? It's on Xbox 360.

But in all seriousness, I get what you mean. Contra's always been at its best outside of the arcades, and it's a pity that Contra 4 is only available on the DS.

Basically, I'll welcome any new Contra game, Contra-like, or re-release of the classics. If The Mummy Demastered can provide some of that Contra feel, it'll be a bonus on top of what already looks like an interesting game. But I expect it will be more in line with the aforementioned Aliens Infestation.

Can anyone come up with a good pun on "turrican" that has something to do with pyramids, embalming, or bandages?

"Turrikhaman" is the closest I can come up with.

I kept my DSi XL mainly for its D-Pad. I regret moving over Risky's Revenge, Mighty Milky Way and Mighty Flip Champs to my 3DS XL, because it was only after a while later I realized, "oh wait, the placement of this D-Pad is horrible and playing 2D games on the circle pad is not good at all."

So I'm really, really glad I can play The Mummy Demastered on a proper TV game system, with a proper controller that won't cause me hand cramps and discomfort.

Yeah, the 3DS D-pad placement is horrible. That's why I have an OG 2DS.

Might explain why there are so few WayForward games on the system. Based on DS and DSi, I would have expected more games from them by now, but they have mostly transitioned onto home consoles with a bit of mobile on the side. Maybe it was the direction they were already heading in, but all those 3DS systems out there that are poorly suited for WayForward's D-pad driven games probably didn't help.

There are definitely aspects of the DSiXL that aren't replicated in even an XL 3DS, but I found that Cyber Gadget's n3DSXL grip is a great way for making playing 2D games on 3DS tolerable. Makes d-pad access a lot more tolerable. In fact, I play more 2D than 3D stuff on the thing these days. Highly recommended. I can't imagine going without it now.

I have one, actually. It helps but not nearly enough.

An analog nub may not be so great for WayForward's standard fare, but it's a godsend for anything that requires lots of diagonal movement (Super Mario 64 DS, Lunar Knights, Scurge: Hive, etc.). On Wii U, I alternate between the stick for movement and the D-pad for menu navigation in Link to the Past and Earthbound; I'm sure I'd do the same if I had a New 3DS to play them on.

It's good. It is slow and floaty, but there's a 125% speed option that helps with that.
