I'm really impressed by the ambitious scope of the Ninja Gaiden episode, and it's nice to see M2's early work getting some recognition in the Game Gear version of Gunstar.

You've been doing great lately, Shakewell! This is another good episode. I didn't even know about a Game Gear Gunstar Heroes. XD

Thank you, sir. The Ninja Gaiden episode took about four months to put together.

Hey, it's loose movie tie-in time with an episode on Spider-Man! Specifically Spider-Man games from SEGA!

I have fond memories of playing Spider-Man at the arcade. It was indeed a weird set of characters. Black Cat makes sense, but Submariner and Hawkeye notsomuch.

And Submariner's electric powers are actually canon... but obscure. Namor used to have a wide range of fishy powers including puffer fish powers, a cave fish radar and the powers of an electric eel. However, they were written out a few years later. Not even much of an explanation, just an editoral note saying he lost all those powers.

I legit almost put an electric eel joke in the script. But that's good to know. I did a cursory search and didn't find anything about it, so I just figured it was Japanese devs doing whatever they wanted with a comic character.

Nice one. I definitely have a soft spot for the arcade game. Love that title card, too.

Funny, I was thinking something similar. Like they didn't know much about the character and then they went through the old comics for inspiration and found a thing Marvel's largely been trying to ignore.

BTW, another fact which describes some of the games more random elements: some of the generic baddies are henchmen for the supervillain team The Hellfire Club.

Who are X-Men villains.

They also make the most delightful sounds.

The Japanese devs probably picked them out because they look like generic tokusatsu mooks, who are also known for making those high-pitched noises.
