Those turned out great, Lady. I've been wanting to get into painting miniatures but I never see any figures around here except the Warhammer ones, which don't really interest me. These are from some kind of board game?

I'm not sure what assembly would require, but I could definitely do the painting.

Thanks!

They're for a game called Tokaido. I'm not sure if they came with a special edition or what, though.

I'd be really surprised if a shop that carries Warhammer doesn't have a bunch of other lines that contain something more appealing, maybe they're just tucked away. What kind of things are you interested in? I could probably recommend some makers.

IIRC, the figures were a Kickstarter reward. It's possible that they've been made available at retail since then, however.

TBH, I saw this Indiegogo for a 3D printer, and making mini-figs came to mind immediately.. I wonder if selling those could break even

Managed to write 500 words in an hour tonight which is great. I mean, I meant to write this bit back in January, but I'll take it all the same.

How did you motivate yourself to sit down and do it?

Honestly, I don't know. I guess I was just burned out on games and model kits this week and I didn't want to go to bed.

It also caused me to do some drawing and painting outside of work the following day, so it's definitely starting a shift in my motivation that I am enjoying.

Managed to get back to my Kq1 demake. Started by ripping out all of the text from the original AGI version of the game!

I'm either going to make it IF or port it to ZZT or Megazeux.

Still deciding that.

Is this already on a network somewhere we could re-blog/tweet it, or should we just post it ourselves (with permission and attribution of course)? 'Cause it's grand.

It's all good! I am hosting it on my extremely sporadic comedy tumblr though. That wouldn't be a bad way to link it back to me!

And thanks!

We finished watching JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 3

I guess drawing things is how I express all the feels I have due to consuming media.

(I didn't feel the need to trace this time, since I had gotten lots of study done of Araki's style last November)

So, I completed a big art project recently (well, not exactly "completed", but finished a significant step). I was all set to keep working on it, but I just... I don't know. I can't seem to find the motivation to just pick up a pencil.

I used to be able to take (relatively simple) photo and reproduce it with reasonable fidelity, and I want to do it again, but every time I think "I'm going to do this tonight", it just doesn't happen. Like tonight. Instead of doing it, I ended up going for a 40 minute walk, play FF XV for 30 minutes, and then spend 20 minutes watching an excerpt from Lawrence O'Donnell's show from yesterday on YouTube.

I have subscribed to a class on anatomy drawing on Udemy, and it seems to be super interesting, but I just can't start it. I sit down, go through 20 minutes of video, and then just stop.

Feels like I have no motivation for... anything. Including finding a new job, which I am going to need very soon.

That sounds like an authentic art process to me. Maybe you should just go nuts. Like take out your inks and paints and set out a bunch of paper and go to town on them.

I am having a hell of time accessing any files on my Blue Stinger disk, I guess this is the closest thread to ask:
Can somebody rip some of the textures from that game for me? I really wanted the logos on Dog's yellow WIND shirt, and any and all Hassy can textures.

I figured drawing a bunch of eels would be necessary to help clear my head and let me move on mentally

In retrospect probably shoulda spoilerpop'd it

EDIT: Would I say the homages to Sally Cruikshank (Face like a Frog, Quasi at the Quackadero, this thing right here) and some of Yellow Submarine intentional in that little eel collage? Yeah, basically. I feel like without really examining the work of these animation projects, the whole question of what the hell the damn eel in Mario 64 is supposed to look like winds up being pretty incoherent (with pretty much the entire rest of the series, since what the hell else in the entire fucking series even looks anything like that? when they remade the game for DS they completely changed its look), whereas taken in the light of those aforementioned animation projects, jolly roger bay feels outside the normal context of mario but makes a lot of sense as an attempt to create a 3D animation in the style of those features; hell, it's a wonder the wrecked ship isn't a submarine itself.

I don't know that it's one dream, but there's always an eel and some sort of callback to jolly roger bay. It vacillates between sheer terror (as I must gaze upon the harrowing visage of such a strange monster as these) and utter slapstick (as there have been dreams where an eel must attempt to follow me on to dry land, whereupon all it can do is be large and flop about, as it is fundamentally a sea creature). There is no particular coherence to any of it, other than I see various sorts of horrifying eels over the course of my dreams.

The eels I see obviously don't look exactly like the one in JRB; one of the purposes of this drawing I've made is to categorize some of the appearances it has taken in my dreams.
