Does this get an upgrade at some point, or is there an early one that I missed? Because at this point it definitely only activates when I rub against a wall. Double tapping but not against a wall does nothing, so there's no real dash/evade component to the move at this point.
There are other upgrades yes.

Neat trick with the Drone Swap: You can press the drone button while the launcher orb is in midair to "hatch" the drone, then press it again to swap in midair.

EDIT: Required for at least one item in Edin too.

Oops, sorry, forgot how it worked when you first got it.

It's cool. Given how many upgrades this game has, I was assuming it was coming eventually.

Neat trick v2: Tapping the glitch beam button right after teleporting will reset the cooldown for the drone launch, letting you launch/teleport infinitely without landing.

I got to what is probably the final boss, but it was hard so I decided to spend more time exploring instead of slamming my head into a wall.

Is there some extra-hidden item that will get me through the room with three lasers on the left side of a room in what I'm pretty sure was the first area of the game? Or do I need to just explore the rest of my options more thoroughly. Three lasers is too much for even the red coat to dash through...

I also remember a lot of dead ends throughout the map that didn't appear to have any clear drillable rocks or glitch areas or ways to enter by using any other obvious tools. I guess maybe just dash at them with the red coat and probably there are breakable rocks that are just in too deep to notice with just the drill/drone?

No, there's no special item for that. I think you're talking about the upper left of the zone? Go to the room above and to the right of it, glitch beam the missing blocks in the wall, and look at the text that pops where the gibberish glitch beam text usually does.

I can't wait for speedrunners to break this game.

Discovered that myself just last night, proud of myself for doing that too.

Oh I know, I just feel like there's so much left to be uncovered as time progresses on this.

I came back with two more power nodes and a health node and beat it. I used the Kilver and jumped up and down (and dash jumped up and down) vertically below the screen. I found that this tended to keep the drones in the air, reducing damage significantly because they were mostly firing at nothing.

I never found the flamethrower. Where is it?

There are multiple levels of secrets behind it, so that's understandable. There are drillable bricks in the upper-left corner of the room where you get the first gun, right at the beginning of the game. Take the left path and it'll eventually lead to the flamethrower, but you have to use a password to actually get it. For the password, there's an area with a four-wide laser wall in the final zone. You have to glitch one of the pod robots on the previous screen, because they travel with you between screens in the same relative position onscreen when glitched. Transition when the enemy is in the upper right, and it'll shoot the orb to deactivate the laser wall. Dash through the ground where the lasers were and you'll get a note. The note has the password in it. It doesn't spell it out as blatantly as the translation passwords do, but it's pretty obvious when you know you're looking for a password.

That's awesome, but oh man I'm never going to do it.

Absolutely love how insane this gets though.

I got the Tethered Charge by glitching some airborne enemies and then waiting for one of them to float close enough for me to ride it up and eventually discover a new room. Is that normal, or have I made a (fiddly, needless) sequence-break, and was supposed to get it later?

No, there's at least one other secret-ish area that requires about the same if I'm thinking of the right spot. Though the repeat drone launch/swap combo will get you pretty much anywhere in the game if you have enough patience.

I don't think I have the swapping item yet, just the extended launcher, so I definitely need to comb back over the map and test everything...

It's a mandatory upgrade, so you'll get it eventually, and it's basically at that point that the game cracks wide open. There's a few things that require the Red Coat, but most everything else is just tucked into odd nooks and crannies that are hard to get to.

Ah, turned out I just hadn't explored Edin as thoroughly as I could have. Guess I rushed through it, thinking it was a place to come back to later on (probably due to the much higher damage the enemies dish out, etc). Back on track, now! Cheers.

There's also the Health Node in the final area that requires glitched monsters.

I've found four of the five secret worlds. Too bad that scanline effect that hints where they are is nearly impossible to detect.

You're not supposed to be able to get through there yet. That's the path to the final area. Go explore other places on your map first.

Bah. I was hoping to avoid going to E-Kur-Mah.

About all I have left to explore (aside from that sector) is this room, and I don't know what its deal is. The map says there's a path to the right, but I've tried everything I can think of and found zilch.

There's another sector to the right, and for that, you must go up.

So it's an exit for E-Kur-Mah. Crud.

Those ships are very good at murdering me. :(
