the legacy guys at work are all hype for the new red hatebear because he punches you in the face every time you spin your Sensei's Divining Top.

And Young Pyromancer worked so hard to be the best red two-drop creature, too...

Speaking of Eli, this is his first card to make it to print. And what a card it is, too.

Suck it, U!

I can't decide how good that card is but it is REALLY weird and interesting. Which is pretty good anyway.

I honestly don't play Constructed enough to be a good judge. And I definitely never played Modern outside of toying with friends' decks every now and then, but I imagine that's where this card will see the most action in.

Can't see this really coming out of anyone's sideboard in Limited, unless I guess your opponent is playing spells.deck for some reason. Unlikely chance of that happening in this format, though.

Whichever copy resolves first knocks all the others off the stack, but I'm not totally sure which one resolves first.

Yeah, I just asked one of the L2s in the building. In a four-player Commander game it would be the player to your right whose Glorious End goes off.

In two player it would be the player who didn't cast Glorious End.

Multiplayer keeps "Active Player -> Nonactive Player" with all nonactive players putting their triggers on the stack in Turn Order. So it knocks out the player who's last in the turn order.

Literally not sure what to think of the Cartouches-Trials cycle (in Limited, of course). Absolutely dying to test it out.

They seem so so slow but this doesn't look like a very fast format, so.

A lot of the Cartouches and Trials seem really solid on their own, especially the green Cartouche - Hunt the Weak, plus permanent trample, at one fewer mana?! The blue one also speaks to me, because I love cantrips. Imagine making a 4/2 beast on turn 3, then next turn making it a 5/3 flying and drawing a card???

The big question that I'm curious about is: how many cantrips / cyclers can I play, and when do I start to play fewer lands? Secondarily, how many deserts can I get away with playing?

My pull was terribly unfair - four good rares in my two strongest colors. Round two just started, but I'll upload photos after.

Still undefeated, though the guy in round two put up more of a fight. A little sad I didn't pull this tomorrow for the main event, I'm confident this is a 6-0 deck.

Default Sorry to gush about my stupid prerelease, guys.

Lost to mana flood last match, 1-2. Only running 17 lands, which is weird, but it happens to everyone. Anyway, rares in the deck were
  • Hazoret the Fervent, who was absolutely a brutal fucking beating and the star of the deck; it's REALLY easy to turn her on, and her ability is very relevant in a rush-down aggro deck
  • Neheb the Worthy, who didn't quite carry as many games as Hazoret, but he was very close - I had multiple high-quality Minotaurs, including Ahn-Crop Crasher (so so good) and Bloodrage Brawler (who also won games strictly on his own strength, because if my oppponent didn't Essence Scatter him or something when he was coming in, he usually got in multiple swings to the face and some chump-blocker feasting), so giving them all first strike and, usually, +2/+0 created a near-unwinnable board state
  • Dread Wanderer - I thought this card was good going in, but his ability was way more relevant that I thought it would be. Honestly didn't think having a recursive 2/1 would be that good, but it was!
  • Liliana's Mastery - a great card that didn't come out much, but it was sweet when it did. I think my minotaur tribal was stronger, but most creatures in my deck that weren't ram-men were zombies, so playing this with some durdley zombie bears felt pretty damn good. Largely overkill for this deck, though, I imagine a more mid-range deck would have valued this card higher. Cursed Minotaur was riding high and mighty in this list, though, lol.

I also had tons of removal:
two Trial of Zeal (though no Cartouches at all,
alas, but I didn't need them to make this card playable);
one Magma Spray; two Final Reward;
and a couple of Fling that sat in my sideboard and never came out,
and a couple of Blazing Volley that I actually did side in against a guy who was running a WB deck that was largely comprised of x/1 creatures. Didn't actually even need them,
the rest of my removal suite was plenty sufficient.
Bone Picker was amazing, and great at defending big stompy flying blue critters, as well as Glorybringer, cause fuck that noise. The big creatures I had with cycling were usually cycled away, but that's great, honestly, I'm happy I could. Soulstinger was better than I thought. He was a form of removal in his own right, and while he's not like a windmill first-pick slam or anything, he did tons more work for me than I thought he would.

It was a crappy was to end the night, but I had a fuckton of fun crushing people's faces with a ridiculous aggro deck. Getting ready for another, larger prerelease right now. I hope I pull a Force of Will and an Auster Command like the guy sitting next to me last night did. Hello, $500!

[e] Photo! Ended up cutting the Painful Lessons before I started, to get me to 23, but the rest was my main deck. I'd make some tweaks, looking back, but it was my first game of Amonkhet, so!

Thanks for the breakdown on all those cards!

Midnight pre-release didn't draw a big crowd at my shop, but the Saturday morning tournament out there is hyooge by our standards, well over 100 players.

Looks like a sick deck! I just know I'm going to wind up drafting something like Blue-Green cycling/ramp first time I take a crack at Amonkhet so just looking at that deck list gives me the jibblies.

i went 1-1-1 and had hella fun at my prerelease anyway. the bombs in this set (rhonas, the dragon thing) are just absurd, but otherwise it's a really solid pauper style format with lots of tension and grind. i'm a big fan.

also, i was on loading ready run again!

Sensei's Divining Top banned in Legacy.

Leovold banned and Protean Hulk unbanned in Commander.
