The Misfits in Action was almost close to a good stable, I thought. The Hugh Morrus > Hugh G Rection > General Rection progression was indicative of... something. I do remember the GI Bro angle, which was responsible for introducing me to the oeuvre of Fred Williamson in high school. So it wasn't a total loss.

And that figure's bound to trend upward if anything. Aurora Rose in particular should be making her on-screen debut in five to ten years....

(Underrated part of the picture that's had me chuckling since morning: the picture from WM23 on the desk.)

(Shane's wife totally steered into the "80s Italian Housewife" look, didn't she?)

How weird is it that, out of all the kids, it's HHH's who haven't made a Wrestlemania appearance yet?

(Shane's came out with him before the Undertaker match last year)

Rest in Power, George "The Animal" Steele: Schoolteacher, coach, and the ring turnbuckle's only natural predator.

Word is out that George Steele passed away from Kidney failure this morning at 79.

Obviously, he was most famous for the Randy Savage feud, but he was a hell of a heel as well.

Good lord, they cut out the great line about Lana hacking New Day's iPad because she's Russian.

(It's actually pretty subtle, but you can hear the leftover laughter that starts for no real reason)

they should then cut a 20-second version of the trailer where one of them instantly does the space flying tiger drop.

It's not TOO shocking since Fire Pro's apparently done rather well ever since it was put up as a digital title on PSN (which saved me the bother of prying it out of the dear departed 60GB PS3).

More than anything else, it'll be nice to have the move list updated. It's getting to the point again where what are now common moves just aren't present in Returns, so it's harder and harder to make guys accurately.

(And can a guy get a freaking flapjack added to the game? People have been asking for that for like 23 years now!)

It's interesting to see the setups for it evolve. In the early days you can tell he hadn't really gotten used to doing it all as one movement. When he added the kick for a lead-in the whole spot flowed a lot more smoothly.

Slaughter doing the full somersault oversell is terrific.

The way people bumped for it is also interesting, as they started taking it like an Ace Crusher (because, well, duh) but Jake took it like a jawbreaker (dropping to his knees) and Bret and HHH both adopted that.

Scott Hall's "just kinda bend over, then LAUNCH yourself a good five feet in the air" remains a favourite version.

Yeah, I was just noticing that, especially when you see him hit a bunch of guys in the same match. Taker does the bounce-up-in-the-air sell, Kane does the Flair Flop.

Jerry Brisco also favors Slaughter's somersault version, but he's not as good at it.

Oh shit, if you want to see another good one, D-Lo at 10:55.

The sequence starting at 11:30 is where you get a whole bunch of Rock stunner sells in a row for comparison purposes, as it's the build to WMXV.

Sadly, the one from Backlash with the camera is edited down to meaninglessness. Here's the full sequence:

I posit that literally the only weakness of the Stunner as a finisher is that you can't do it through a table.

WARNING: that link has a high chance of sucking you down into one of the ultimate Youtube rabbit holes, namely "Rock Promos."

Yeah, I noticed that once Rocky turned heel he switched to the reverse mule-kick oversell, another classic.

into the Invasion era, Benoit uniquely sells the Stunner like his own half of the snap suplex. Or a Russian legsweep.

and when Rocky really wants to show off he does the mule-kick sell with a rebound back off the ropes.

haha, seconds after I type "uniquely," I see that William Regal sold it the same way as Benoit.

With Rocky, you half expect Austin to turn around once and be baffled as to how Rock wound up where he did. Part of me thinks thats why he sold it like he did.

Those Russo shows where someone interrupted the entire show produce some weird one offs, like Austin stunning Val Venis (not Chief Morley).

Observer awards quick recap: Styles wins wrestler of the year when Okada, Omega, and Naito split the votes three ways, Omega wins outstanding worker, Conor wins every MMA category of note as well as best on promos.

Tanahashi / Okada wins match of the year, which was fairly surprising to me as my top two (Nakamura / Styles and Revival / DIY 2 out of 3) finished well back.
