He kind reminds me of Wild Guns. Always a good thing.

They did. I'm still put off by the design in general though (which is a shame because mechanically, that's crazy appealing character for me).

I'm already seeing people complaining that they're 'guy muscles' and Blizzard 'just slapped boobs on a male character' and 'they're catering to thhttthhbpppgoog ptptptpptptptp thhpttththtppppppppppp'

Here's hoping we keep seeing more stuff that's nothing but a giant middle finger to those types of people.

I like that Zarya's the Heavy, and her gun looks way more exciting. Maybe this game will shape up to be really good!

That map looks a lot more sprawling and complex than I was expecting. Which is probably a good thing but I could see it taking a while to learn'em.

I didn't see the whole map in that video, but it looked a lot like most TF2 control point/attack and defend maps as far as size goes. The big difference is all the vertical movement. That was pretty cool to see so many characters flying or leaping high into the air. Probably means the map itself is actually pretty big, but it's more tall instead of having bigger arenas to run around in. I'd consider that a really good idea anyway. TF2's best maps usually funnel teams into enclosed spaces where you have lots of confrontation, and even if you have an arena, they're usually full of cover or accessible by a few different routes.

I didn't find Zarya too interesting to watch, but I think she'd be really fun to play. I guess that seems weird but I mean Heavy is really fun in TF2 in a lot of circumstances, but not exciting to watch.

Default let the dragon consume you, dude

This game is in closed beta now. It's mostly streamers and other assorted nerds who got into the first wave, so if you want to watch somebody play this game a whole lot you can make that happen.

It seems to be coming together pretty well. I'll probably play it when I get the chance. Symmetra seems super boring to play though, which is kind of a shame. Her turrets are hilarious, but it seems difficult to actually do damage with her weapon, and a lot of your contribution to the team just comes from more passive stuff like the teleporter and her max HP buff. You mostly just tool around and shoot orbs at bastion/reinhardt when you get the chance.

Reaper suggestions I came up with the other night: make reaper more like Bayonetta and/or rename reaper to Ultimate Crack Smoking Warlock. He is a boring nerd but he still seems like a fun dude to play.

The next character they're releasing is a starcraft pro/kpop idol, which is like 2 of the most exhausting professions to exist. I guess that is why she's a superhero.

Symmetra seems to me like a medic then but with turrets? In tf2 standards.

I really like her design a lot. And the lights on the backpack change depending on the mode you use on her gun, to make faces as you shoot, which is pretty cute!

The roster has a lot of characters I really like, too. I'm kind of excited about the game, and I hope it turns out well.

...is Mei voiced by BMO? Or is that just a really similar voice (and accent)?

I love the thought process of the internet on these new characters.

"Cyborg samurai ninja? Eh. Starcraft champ in a mecha? Sure. Ice-thrower girl in arctic exploration gear WHY IS THIS NOT OUT YET"

Any news on whether or not the console versions are cross-compatible with the PC version?

Very few games allow cross-platform multiplayer. It's a popular question to ask, but it's by far the exception that a game allows it.

I hope Blizz makes use of the Destiny/FF14-like patching system to allow them to keep Overwatch on console on par with PC, as opposed to Diablo 3.

I got an invite to this for their stress test weekend! It's pretty good!

I really think they could stand to lean more on (early) TF2. The maps are way trickier to navigate in part because they lack the huge blue/red arrows / decor everywhere. They're pretty easy to get oriented on, but there's an initial learning period that doesn't have to be there.

The characters are a mixed bag right now. Some feel totally inconsequential, but none really feel overpowered.
