If Mark Russell wants to cast Snagglepuss as Tennessee Williams, as he says in the full interview, I see no problem in letting him. He's batting a thousand with Prez and The Flintstones.

And speaking of The Flintstones, which I intend to do at great length and at every opportunity, I was reading the preview of Issue 8 which has a great explanation of economics* and I finally noticed one of the darkest jokes in comic. Pebbles and Bam-Bam's school mascot is the Fighting Tree People, the same tree people that were killed in the founding of Bedrock.

*"When you trick somebody into participating in a small-time fraud it is called a "scam," but when the scam is so big that people have no choice but to participate, it's called economics."

I want a month of DC comics that are just the lead characters eating at their city's respective Batburger franchises.

I don't believe that this is too much to ask.

That's the good stuff right there. I need more. I hope Mark Russell keeps making gloriously incongruous comics for DC forever. Not crazy about that Howard Porter (?) art though.

It loses some of the impact when you read it with Snagglepusses voice, I find.

However, this is true of most literature.

I keep seeing references to Grant Morrison all over the place, usually where I don't expect them (this thread probably doesn't count). I have an Animal Man action figure on my desk, maybe that's why

I posted that from my phone and it auto-corrected from gut to guy. Before I posted I went back and tried to fix it and it fixed it right back.

If I weren't still posting from my phone I might edit in the panel of the guy punch.

Real good week out of DC. I really liked the art on Justice League, even if Hitch still can't get out of his own way with his dialogue.

Batman was suitably insane, and Super Sons and Nightwing were both really good.

Oh, and Dixon's buried the hatchet with DC (yet again) - he and Nolan are doing a Bane 12-issue series.

Default DC Comics is bad at their job

So: DC is reprinting Batwoman: Elegy in June. This is good news for everyone, because it's an excellent book, but also for me specifically because I don't yet own it in physical format.

But they saddled it with a really bad cover:

Just that they commissioned a new cover (from a new artist) for this collection is baffling enough, since Williams III's art on the book is already absolutely stunning (and, you know, actually representative of the content within).

But what really annoys me is that Batwoman is suddenly sporting stilettos, which she very pointedly does not have in the book.

Like... maybe read what you're covering?

I don't doubt this is common practice, but this feels like a really egregiously bad case.

Wow, yeah. That is a huge misunderstanding of her character.

(But what a great comic)

Interesting how her costume in that picture is realistically stretched across her bust in comparison to those other pictures, where it seems to emphasize each boob separately.

It's possible that they photoshopped a Babs cover they already had in the can. The head looks a little weird, and that'd be the big difference between the two costumes besides the colour schemes. Notice that she's wearing the classic Batman style utility belt, for instance, whereas I think Kate's only ever worn a pocket-style one.

The new cover's aping Alex Ross (or IS Alex Ross, but I think he's under contract to Marvel right now), and I think that's generally how he draws female chests.

Lobo teaming up with Wile E. Coyote to catch The Road Runner is genius. I am also a fan of Yosemite Sam (and what appears to be Foghorn Leghorn) in a crossover with Jonah Hex and Marvin the Martian fighting Martian Manhunter.

I don't get the appeal of Elmer Fudd and Batman.

I guess that Fudd is inexorably tied to his rifle and Batman isn't too fond of guns?

Batman fights alien monster has more legs than Batman encounters a hunter with a speech impediment.

To be fair; I don't think Fudd has ever successfully shot anyone.

He should be the only person Batman doesn't have a problem holding a gun.

Are we sure it's a team-up? Elmer Fudd would be right at home in Batman's rogue gallery.

Particularly if that Batman is Batman '66.

He's shot Daffy Duck in the face numerous times. Causing his beak to fly off and pin to the tree behind him. You know this.

The man carries a shotgun that can apparently be jammed by a rabbit sticking its paws in the barrel, give him the credit when he actually manages to do anything with it.

(What would've been a better matchup for Elmer? I'm thinking Huntress or Hawkman, but I understand the desire / requirement to have Batman involved with this.)

To be fair, sometimes his beak just gets spun around his head until it's facing backwards.
