+ inspiration for Cheyrn.

XP from yesterday:

Explorers: Bell, Echo, Mia, Cheyrn
Discoveries: Mysterious Structure (300)
Treasure: N/A
Monsters: 2 Grey Ooze (200), 3 Magma Mephit (300)
/ 4 = 200 each

I realize that a short session and a bit of bad luck on rolls leaves a few of you just short of leveling up. Sorry about that! I'll try to make sure to fit more stuff in the next time we have a short session.

Great! Here's the first steps:

Quote:
(create a Roll 20 account, click the link below, click "Join Game," then I can create a blank character sheet for you to fill out)

Link to the Game
You can also check out the first post for more info about the world and how to build your character. Let me know if you have any questions.

I should be free tomorrow at 6:00 Central or anytime after.

Cool, I joined the game on Roll20. I'm free all night tomorrow.

My only question is should I make a more lighthearted character or a more serious one? Setting seems kinda serious so don't want to be too out there.

I can be on mic as well tomorrow, do you use the Roll20 voice chat?

Character Sheet added. It's under the icon that looks like a newspaper.

Lighthearted characters are not be out of place with what we've been running so far. Roll whatever sounds most interesting to you.

As always, I'm up for tomorrow, but if you have enough other people, go ahead and take them instead.

Hand of Vecna will fourth. Or third, if Turtle drops for someone else.

I just realized that I have something from 6:30 to 7:30, and will be ready to go actually around 8 or 8:30, if that's ok with people!

I'll aim to be on around 7:30 Central/8:30 EST. If we have at least 3 people we can set out and anyone who joins after that can catch up with the party.

I've been rolling on the DMG loot tables, and they're pretty crappy. Like, 1 gold is not exciting, even at first level. I really love the rolling though, so I'm gonna spend some time messing around with it. Sorry for not looking in to it sooner!

We could just multiply it by 10 for tonight :3c

Also let us know exp when you can! I'm excited to level up!

And thanks for running this. That was fun!

It might be something like that, but I'm going to work out the new table before deciding. I'll have it ready before the next session.

Experience:

Explorers: Draugma, Cheyrn, Echo, Mag, Father Tio
Discoveries: Ooze Cave (300), Pit (300)
Treasure: ~17g (17), Shield Key (300)
Monsters: 3 Grey Ooze (300), 4 Smoke Mephits (200), 2 Ettercaps (900), 3 Firenewts (400)
/ 5 = 544 each

Glad you're enjoying it!

Some people got lost wandering north? Eh. People. I'm more worried about this smoke and ash from the south. If there's fire, the wilderness might be in danger.

We found a cave. I saw some pools of oily liquid inside and pulled out my bow. It looked unnatural! And it was - they combined into one big ooze and attacked! They knocked down our "monk." (He never seems to know how many gods he follows. It is strange. But he can punch, at least.) I ran in and attacked it with my swords, which got guck on them, and it started to erode them! Ugh! I just got those, and they clearly would be less effective now! The shout-orc's hammer got a similar treatment, but that is very big. I think it will be less terrible.

As we walked on, the smoke grew thicker. I saw shapes in the smoke - little demon shapes! We fought four little smoke demons, and my arrows felled two of them, dispersing them on the winds.

Then, we found Ettercaps. Or rather, they found us as we were blinded by the smoke. These spider-like monstrosities are an insult to the purity of nature, and we dispatched them, though the battle was fraught. The big shout-man fell down and shouted a little quieter, and a bear helped eat the other monstrosity.

We stealthily skirted past some Wolf Spiders and came to the stone building. It looked like an old church of sorts. I snuck around back and found a small door. It was locked, but Cheryn turned into a spider and crawled beneath the door, then re-emerged dragging a set of keys by strands of web. We went inside and explored, finding little but a key in an old desk. Echo seemed fascinated by the writing quill. I plucked one of his feathers and offered it to him as a more convenient quill. He did not appreciate my joke. Sometimes I do not understand these book-livers. What magic is there in a book that the majesty of the wilderness does not already contain?

The spider looked under a door, waved us off, and pointed us upstairs. We came to a shadowy balcony overlooking three newt-men overlooking a huge smoking pit in the ground, one chanting. We took our positions and attacked! I shot from above as our orc leapt upon the chanter. The spider crawled along the ceiling, and then the spider was a bear and dropped on the other! It took Bear Damage. I laughed.

We dispatched them with little hardship, though a trio of scorching rays stopped my breath in my throat for a moment, but the shouting orc merely laughed them off. I threw down my corroded shortswords and picked up the two newt-men's scimitars, the shout-orc took the leader's morningstar, and we found a piddly amount of coin in their pockets.

The pit is deep, so deep we cannot see the bottom, but we could see tunnels leading away from the center shaft. The closest is about 50 feet down, close enough to reach with a length of rope. But we were weary and wounded from our battles, and left it for another day.

~inner thoughts of Mag Obrib, Kenku ranger.

DRAUGMA IS HALF ORC, NOT ORC. DRAUGMA EXPECTS BIRD TO BE MORE CAREFUL WITH LANGUAGE NEXT TIME.

DRAUGMA WILL WRITE UP DRAUGMA'S VERSION OF EVENTS AS WELL, AS THEY WILL BE EXCITING.

Not sure yet! I'm busy Friday-Sunday. I'll post in here when I'm more certain about plans next week.

Here's Mag's beast companion that we worked out in the main D&D thread:

Quote:
Swarm of Ravens
Medium swarm of Tiny beasts, unaligned

Armor Class: 12

Hit Points: 18 (6d4+3)

Speed: 10 ft., fly: 50 ft.

STR 6 (−2) DEX 14 (+2) CON 12 (+1) INT 3 (−4) WIS 12 (+1) CHA 6 (−2)

Skills: Perception +5

Damage Resistance: piercing

Condition Immunities: grappled, restrained

Senses: passive Perception 15

Languages —

Challenge 1/4 (50 XP)

Swarm. The swarm can occupy another creature’s space and vice versa, and the swarm can move through any opening large enough for a Tiny raven. The swarm can’t regain hit points or gain temporary hit points in battle.

Actions

Beaks. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target in the swarm’s space. Hit: 7 (2d6) piercing damage, or 3 (1d6) piercing damage if the swarm has half of its hit points or fewer.
Damage calculation is 2d6 - 2 + DEX, and d6 - 2 + DEX.

Yeah, I'd like to hit level 3 also, but that's less because of the awesome abilities I'd get (and they are p good) and more because being exactly 25 experience points shy is v frustrating.

I am here and interested in this game if you're still taking players. Ol' R^2 got me rootin' and tootin' to play. I could do Wednesday if I get a character created by then. Thinking maybe a paladin, cleric or bard. Something ELFY probably.

Yes, we are still accepting players. I don't think I'm going to put a limit on how many people can play, but if it gets very popular we might need a second DM. I could possibly give someone details for 1/3 of the map so they could still play in the rest of it? I'll have to think it through a bit and polish stuff up first.

This week I'm meeting my friends' new baby, playing irl D&D, going to a baseball game, and going to dinner & a play with a lady friend. That only leaves Thursday open! Sorry, it's an unusually busy week. Let me know if anyone's free on Thursday.

I completely forgot to text the guys by the time my phone was charged, but Vecna checked the thread his own self and threw his hat in for Thursday as well.

That's a spread of what I assume is now a third-level character and a first-level starter, though, so we'll need to be careful.
