Orisa became one of my favourites the very moment I realized her shield could block Roadhogs hook.

And everything else, for that matter.

Actually, the more I use her, the more I find that most of her skills are pretty essential to the character. The gravity orb is fun on its own, but it also helps mitigate the travel time of her bullets. I'll often drop an orb, start shooting at it and then detonate the orb to draw enemies into the cloud of bullets that are already on their way. And there are some cool tricks you can do by pulling people out from behind an opposing Orisa's barrier or whatnot. Her big shield also just makes you a big, durable target in some cases, which is good for running down the clock on defense. The longer people spend picking away at it, the less time you have to deal with them trying a strategy that will actually gain them ground. Obviously, there are other ways to use the shield effectively, but sometimes just being a big obvious target with a somewhat dangerous gatling gun can be enough to draw attention and let your teammates pull off something sneaky.

The one ability that I'm really bad with is her temporary armor thing. I'll occasionally remember to pop it when I start getting low on health, but I'm terrible about using it against enemy movement abilities. Which is weird, because I play a lot of Reinhardt myself and I've been thwarted by tanky Orisas more than a few times. You'd think I would remember by now.

Oh my god, I completely forgot that her shift gave her damage reduction. Do you think that's a good enough reason for my boss to let me go home and practice w/ her?

Orisa's gravity orb also has really nifty synergy with her shield in that it can suddenly put a DPS hero on the wrong side of the barrier right when they expect to be doing damage. Pulling Reaper through your shield as he pops Death Blossom and then just casually mowing him down while he twirls ineffectually is Very Good.

I haven't played hardly any at all lately but Orisa was the tank that made the most sense to be specifically because of her greatest hits collection of abilities that pull most of my favorite skills from the other tanks into one character.

I haven't watched the short, but I have seen any given amount of Overwatch fan art, so I dare say that ships already sailed.

For the record: this is because it is a sad one, not what the following three posts would have you believe.

Indeed. Lorewise, this is a gutshot. I'm guessing she trekked to a UN post. I hope they do a followup comic.

And in stranger news:
Due to the proximity of release times for "Junkertown" & "Rise and Shine!", this ship is sailing again.

While I am a little disappointed that her new ult is just "Molten Core but for Mercy" I do like these changes for her overall. Still preserves the Resurrect thing that makes her so popular, but makes her ult more engaging for everyone to deal with. It also makes her able to counter enemy Pharahs???????

D.Va's new change is kind of... I seriously have no idea why it's there.

I never found D.Va to be particularly engaging to play and typically the last thing I fear on a battlefield is an enemy D.Va. She needed some kind of change; not sure if what they intend to do is what was needed.

Mercy's changes are interesting, especially the Caduceus Staff effect while under the ult. Combined with an Ana grenade, I feel like you could find yourself in a situation with the tables quickly turned, and I approve of that sort of thing.

I also approve of flying to a Pharah and punching her in the face.

Weird how all of the characters getting major overhauls are ones that I play. Symmetra's new ability set is great and I'm definitely intrigued what's coming for DVa and Mercy. I think all of these changes look good - I always hold on to my ult for too long as Mercy, but I'd use a single-person rez at every opportunity. Then you can pop your ult to rez a second person and you'll have time for one or two more before it runs out. Sounds interesting, and it sounds like it'll make Mercy into a more challenging character to play well. I didn't think they needed to change anything about her, but this stuff looks cool.

That looks like a pairing where I can take a look at it and go "...eh, no, that doesn't sound right to me."

Like I'm not really opposed to it or anything, it just doesn't make any sense.

Thank fucking god. I worked hard killing those fuckers the first time.

Now maybe we'll see a teleport gate again on Symetra, too, since it's not just a "generally worse res."

The canon Junkrat ship is Symmetra, because it's like that one episode of Futurama with Fry and the bureaucrat woman

The... teleport gate never went away? She has two ults that you can switch between, the teleporter and the shield generator.
