I come to this thread in the spirit of contrition. I have failed to offer homage to my metallic lords and the saviors of all heavy metal in many moons. I therefore come before you to spread the good works of Iron Maiden, hallowed be their names and may they rock forevermore.

I would like to offer up my thanks for the blessed awesomeness of their 1982 classic Number of the Beast and the following year's follow-up Piece of Mind. May the the cds that contain "The Trooper" and "Hallowed Be Thy Name" forever hold their place in my car's stereo system so that I might roll down the windows and blast down the open road with Adrian Smith and Dave Murray's twin guitar riffs propelling me onward in exuberant bliss to whatever destination lies before me. May Bruce Dickinson forever retain his ability to howl out a banshee wail while Steve Harris lays down an intricate foundation.

Just as Prometheus stole fire from the gods and shared his knowledge with humankind Iron Maiden has brought wicked licks into my life and forged the love of heavy metal in my bosom. Hallowed be their names and may they rock forevermore.

Believer - 1 of 5 For those of you who like your metal complex, atmospheric, cerebral and melodic.

Personally I'm enamored with this.

I'm assuming this is what the "maid gym" title of the exercise thread is referencing?

I just found a new metal band called Satan's Hallow and they're pretty rad. No real bells or whistles, just good old-fashioned sweet riffs from start to finish.

I went back and watched a ton of Body Count shit this weekend, and how the fuck did I miss the video where they drive around murdering people who make fun of them on Twitter:

I love Body Count so much.

I like the cover track on the new album where Ice leads in with the little spiel about the origins of the band. "My friend from high school wanted to play guitar, my fans liked to mosh, and I was really into Sabbath and Suicidal and Slayer."

After seeing Nifelheim tonight I will refuse to watch any band whose singer isn't wearing a huge leather wrestling-title belt with their own logo on it.

Here's an interesting release if you like your metal doomy and atmospheric:

Chelsea Wolfe - 16 Psyche

The album hasn't been released yet but this song is fantastic.

GWAR is touring with the Warped Tour atm. They debuted their new insane costumes and the first song written for Blothar on vocals. It's good!

I just discovered Mesarthim. They're a fantastic atmospheric black metal duo from Australia. Latest album is called .- -... ... . -. -.-. . which is morse code for 'Absence.' Their songs seem to be about space and astronomy, which is really interesting.

Good stuff.

Another good one along the lines of atmospheric black metal is the new song by Myrkur. This is from her upcoming album which I think I read is going to have a collaboration with Chelsea Wolfe whom I mentioned upthread:

Myrkur - Måneblôt

Her first album M is really good too.

Yeah, Mesarthim is great (and quite prolific, with several EPs that have come out since Absence). If you like atmospheric black metal, I also highly recommend these:

And it's not atmospheric, but my current black metal obsession is this:

The dirty secret of black metal: the best stuff is full of disco beats.

Late to the party, but the 'new' Hats Barn is also extremely good.

So my other...garbage...going on at home has made me really start to dig back into my old music and wow, I forgot how much I loved some of this shit. And so many album releases I missed! And now I can listen to it loudly without headphones again! I think I'm going to end up buying like $100 worth of albums.

On the concert side of things, I saw DevilDriver on Friday night and got beat up in the pit (on purpose). Also have tickets to see GWAR at the start of November. It's been way too long since I got to really have fun.
