Double post because holy cow, 7 episodes is really quick to binge. I think the last episode, where we see how Voltron was made, is probably my favorite, and not just because Allura's father is *fans self*

Before I knew it I'd binged the whole 7 episodes, yeah

Pretty obvious they split a full season in half so they could meet demand, and I think the animation suffers for it. There's a lot more slow pans over unmoving characters and crowds. And 7 episodes isn't enough to get a bead on what Lotor's deal really is.

This one seems just a bit like the writers were such big fans of the 80s show they couldn't stop themselves from letting it lean this hard on what they've built with Legendary Defender. It's funny, but...

Part of me wonders that if the rumored Voltron movie ever gets made, will we have to explain to our kids why Pidge is a boy and why Shiro's been replaced by some dude?
Is the pull of the original version really that powerful?

S2 ending felt a lot better than S1's non-ending, though.

I think the Sven plot was just a nice throwaway joke to the fans. C'mon they even had a Space Hospital line in there.

And they made it work because it was an alternate reality,
which seems to be a biiiiig deal here
.

How am I going to make it to October?!?!?!

Just watched the first episode of season 3 and Lotor being weirdly handsome compared to the rest of the gorilla-orcs that are the Galra is even more jarring than it was in the original series.

So when to do Lotor, Bernadeth, Lashina, Stompa and Mad Harriet get their own Voltron to fight real Voltron.

Let's talk about episode 7 because it's my favorite this season

It seems like Zarkon was seduced by immortality and Hagar got addicted to Quintessence, but Voltron was forged with an absurd amount of the stuff and shows no signs of being evil. Do you think Zarkon and Hagar were corrupted by the black smoke monsters that emerged from the crater? I mean, Zarkon started acting completely different when he came back to life and Hagar even forgot who she was.

Also, kind of odd that Allura would be shocked to find out that Hagar was Altean when she already knew Zarkon's wife was Altean and came back to life with him.

Might be important: Coran told that story, not Allura.

I presume so, it's just weird to see a regular (albeit blue) guy in amongst a million billion space gorillas.

How would she be able to tell the parts that happened before she was born?

And I really hope there is no "Evil Voltron" thing happening.

Also, love the horribad accent.

I was wondering why a group of ten-thousand year old alien ships were shaped like lions from Earth (except that one has wings) and thought it was just a weird coincidence. but, well, one of Lotors generals has a cat so...

I guess cats just come from space?

There's, like, zero chance that Lotors ship isn't going to turn out to be a giant robot at some point, right?

I mean, it's engines look like crouching legs. That always means it's a robot in disguise.

And he just happens to have a five-man(ish) band with his cronies. That's either giant robot bait, or an excuse to do a villains-based beach episode.

And they have a strong one, a goofy one, a dependable one, a weird one and The Leader.

If they're NOT going to have a badguys teamup, they're deliberately baiting it and subverting expectations by doing something else.

Hee, I had one of the Voltron of the Middle Universe figures. Kept wondering where the show was, because hey, if there are toys, there's gotta be a show, right?

Well, my plan to stretch this out until closer to October obviously was in vain. Season 3 seemed almost entirely dedicated to setting up and not resolving plots, so I'm kind of relieved that season 4 is coming so soon afterward.

Kind of weird that Haggar looked considerably more... Well... haggard prior to dying.

So what are the odds that Shiro is not a clone / doppelganger / sleeper agent / robot?
